Rc10t3 Reedy Edition Build
So I did a trade the other day for an Rc10t3 on Craigslist. I got the truck and it is in pretty good condition. I would like to build it to run on a track and would like to know how people have set it up. Right know its pretty stock. It has a Hi-tech Transmitter, Receiver and Servo. The motor is a Reedy Brand and it says ROAR27 on the endbell but the actual label is hard to read because its so worn out. The ESC says LRP on it but it smokes when you plug it in so I need a new one. Please let me know what you guys run. Tires, Shocks, Shock oil, ect....

I'm also trying to find a cool body to use other than the stock one as mine didn't come with one...

Re: Rc10t3 Reedy Edition Build
I would grab the manual from the team associated website and rebuild the shocks and verify the suspension setup matches the manual.
you can still find the team parts in blue, but things have been drying up recently. hobby shops tend to have some b2 b3 t3 b4 parts in leftover bins so you might be able to find them that way.
as for the esc and motor, if you are planning to run it on a track and keep it low maintenence, look for a reasonably priced sensored brushless system. I've got a few cheap trackstar 17.5 combos which are nice and smooth and run really cool. not the super fastest but you can get the motor and esc for under a hundred. lots of other options out there too.

What would you suggest if I was to keep it Brushed. I have been looking at Speedworks 427 and 350 motors. As for the ESC I think I might go with a Hobbywing 1060 Brushed esc.

Re: Rc10t3 Reedy Edition Build
those plans would all be fine. what kind of battery are you planning to run? The biggest problem you will have is that those brushed motors will get quite hot after 5-7 minutes of running, as long as you stop to let them cool off you are fine. NimH and Lipo batteries have triple+ run time of the old nicd batteries so you just need to take that into account. They also put out a higher voltage for longer.

I plan to run Ni-Mh and Li-Po Batteries. Are there any motors that are as fast as the Speedworks motors that don't get as hot?

Re: Rc10t3 Reedy Edition Build
Yes brushless motors can run wicked fast for long periods of time and only get moderately warm. 13.5 or 10.5 would be faster than 90% of the old brushed motors down to 12 turns or so.

Ok so what about a body. What other bodies fit without to much trimming?

Re: Rc10t3 Reedy Edition Build
Ive got a t3 incoming and was looking to go brushless on it (Ive just rebuilt an rc10 worlds and didnt want to risk brushless on that).
I was looking at a few of those Trackstar brushles setups, what turn motors would you say are the max it can handle on a 2c lipo?
I want to make sure I don't go too ott with it given its age and rarety of parts in the UK.
Thanks!

Re: Rc10t3 Reedy Edition Build
17.5 is pretty quick, 13.5 would be like a hot 14/13 turn brushed motor. 10.5 would be like a 9 or 10 turn brushed motor. So whatever you feel comfortable with for your application.
