I think you'll find it's written "Ass-Toot"....

Either way, I'm interested...

Re: Astute build
UPDATE: Only using rears shocks from this set, sourced some original front shock bodies....ultra rare in yellow.
I want to use this Trinity motor. Its in great shape and very rare. Its a 16t piece with the modular endbell that uses slot car brushes. It was from when "Big Jim" from Checkpoint worked at Trinity. I did score a trinity aluminum endbell from an ole boy on this site (thanks
) because i might go that route, not sure yet....but have new brushes and spring for each just in case. I just want the motor to pop sitting in this car and not sure that plastic endbells gonna do it for me, rare or not.
Gonna restore this old Tekin too!

Re: Astute build
I hope the Tamiya purists arent to hard on me, really excited about the build. Waitin on original Astute front shock bodies from out of the country.
These TTC trannys have to rival any in the business, yes that includes the Stealth. Just a piece of excellence that tranny is, so smooth. Maybe the Schumacher Top Cat belt drive tranny is comparable, dont know tho, never had one

Re: Astute build
I concur, i saw him build it, its artwork! A couple years ago i bought avante sun gear diffs to replace the ball diffs in my egress that i actually raced. The ball diffs wouldnt last a single race and the slide in outdrives popped out constantly. This diff is same design as the avante diffs. Funnest mod i ever did to a car in 35 years.
PS, I Am dereks bro if yall are confused. Or u nay not give an crap, lol.

Re: Astute build
The clean up on the Tekin went well , looks much better ! , what year is the Trinity Monster Horse Power motor , I have a 1987 but its not got the red alloy front of the can , in the first pictures it looked like it had a red rear end bell , did you change it for the alloy one ? My 1987 has the exact same alloy rear end bell and a pair of heat sinks but I'm not sure they were standard on mine either .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Re: Astute build
Not exactly sure what year.... the orange endbell with small brushes is thr original piece....but i switched to the aluminum one cause i thought it displayed better. The motor would be whatever year Big Jim Greenmeyer worked at Trinity....that orange endbell was his doing i believe
