The quality is a little rough... like 1978 amateur home porn rough, but here's some running video. The thing hauls for BITD power!

Changed out these wore our front end components, worn parts had the camber all screwed up, plus they were ugly
Thanks to rerelease cars these old parts can be bought

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
I wonder how the re-release knobby tyres would work?
I've been hearing how these Assaults don't handle very well, would that be because the front is as narrow as it is and would widening it with new Turbo Scorpion parts help?
Keith

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Probably help, and the 2.2 wheels/tires would help, but not look as good. My brother hada rere tomahawk, didnt drive that great, put a spektrum avc receiver in it, drove perfect!

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
It an avc receiver, active vehicle control, it keeps the car in control for you making it much easier to drive, he sold it with the car. Wish i still had that receiver

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Pretty quiet around here.....ran the basket case the last two Sundays for about 45min each time, perfwct reiability but wheelies would scuff my starter cone, making me miserable, so i fabbed up this basic wheelie bar out if .055 wire and two aluminum sleeves for rollers. It still allows the front to come up but not rub the cone. I massaged all the scratches out of the cone.

That would spoil the fun. My starter cone is all carved up too, but from trying to get more than it was worth out of the rubber insert in the starter.

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Lol
just tested it, worked perfect. Grabbed some power wheelies on concrete and gravel, no scratches!
Also, i prolly got 2hrs runtime since restoring this with zero issues at all....why did people say these were unreliable in the 80s?
Also just scored some nos rear axles, mine are soft and tweek easily causing the wheel to not be totally true
