Project Rehab - Associated B3 Factory Team

Post by erichevy »

I picked up a Factory Team B3 off eBay last month... car was in worse condition than what I was expecting and I'm sure I overpaid, but after recently building a Factory Team B3 piece by piece with all NIP parts, this one seemed reasonable.

I was looking for a B3 i could use as my everyday runner and this one seemed to fit the bill. Luckily I have quite a collection of B3 parts laying around so I was able to rebuild the entire car using some good used parts as well as a few new ones. The only things I ended up reusing from the original purchase were the chassis, front kick plate, shocks, trans brace, turnbuckles, and CVD's. Everything else came from my pile of extras. I think I'll go with a new brushless/LiPo set up with this one.

If this is the one that had that corvette body on it you did just fine pricewise. That aluminum rear bulkhead brace would've cost you half of what you paid for the car on its own...used! I had that corvette b3 on my watchlist 3 times relisted I think and if I had the extra disposable income it would be here on the board in a f/s thread...minus the turnbuckles and rear brace  I actually had a bid on it the last time but then decided before hitting enter I just didn't have the $ at the time.

The b3 has been a favorite runner of mine for a long time. It'll make a great runner for you.

This is actually a different one, but I'm familiar with the one you mentioned. I sent an offer on the Corvette bodied B3 when it was originally listed and the seller counter offered. I passed on it tho. Then this one came up right after. The price was about the same, I ended up paying about $10 more for this one. The Racer's Edge trans brace was a nice touch :) Can't wait to put some electronics in this thing and test it out!

at $10 more for this one you still did OK with price IMHO. I sent an offer on that corvette bodied one too. Threw a lowball offer to him with a note to let me know what his bottom dollar was if he couldn't do my offer...he dropped $4  ...I passed also but was really jonesing for that rear brace but just couldn't justify it while I'm trying to put some $ together for a carbon fiber tub rc10t I'm trying to buy. Oh well, there will be more :?

I know I've seen those rear tires before (treaded ones, not the slicks), but I cannot remember what they are? Sure seem wide :)

Nice car, I love my B3 :) Amazed by how well they still drive by todays standards. Are you going to change anything on it, or modernize anything? I just did the typical b4 upgrades to make running it more viable.

Well, I'm revisiting another old project here. Decided to convert my B3 FT car to a carbon fiber chassis. I ordered a NIX B2/B3 chassis from Fibre-Lyte and some parts from Shapeways. It took me just a short time today to swap everything over to the new chassis. I had to drill the chassis to secure the B44 saddle pack battery tray and drill a new hole to move the antennae mount to the front. I'm waiting on a few parts. I'd actually like to try this out at the local track in 2019....

So far....
