Re: ??? Hydrographics ???
I've tried a new film, and I really like it.
It's on Sabulatech's RC10 6 gear clear gear cover. A very nice, strong cover that fits my motor mount perfectly.
Dipped on the inside, the film is backed with Createx iridescent green and then white.
Not quite as reflective as the metal flake on the blue flames dip but very nice.

Hey Chuck, thanks for posting this in such detail, it's pretty damn cool! I think I might have to try this out on my next body.

No problem Dwayne
I am open to try and answer any questions.
The "activitor" I use is Hydrovator and the spray can has some instructions printed on the side as well.

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???
Thought I might try something a little bit different.
It's going to need a lot of MCI stickers though, just ordered them.
Not really sure if I like the "look" yet. Stickers should make a big difference, I hope.

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???
Finished the body and I must say I think it changed dramatically.
Every bit as nice as I hoped. Under good lighting the paint is very fluorescent, it really pops.
Some of the decals are truly vintage. Tekin , Sanyo and ProCar Racing are over 30 years old.
Delta, Hyperdrive and sponsor decals are MCI.
The number decal, I made.

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???
These are great! I noticed you use what appears to be blue painters tape. When you dip it, how does the tape stand up, or it is best to replace it afterwards?
Do the window masks remain in tact?
Thanks!

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???
Hi there Virus
It is plain old painters tape.
After the "dip" the entire body needs to be rinsed clean for about 5 minutes with a gentle sprayer using luke warm water to remove all the water soluable binder.
I should have incorporated that step into the how to, and I will.
After that step I have to replace most all of my tape except any of the thin (usually 2mm) Tamiya tape. That tape bonds very well. I also have had no problems with window masking.
The vinyl type tapes and vinyl window masks toleratate dipping very well. Sometimes I even tape over or up to the vinyl tapes before the dipping with blue tape for insurance.
Then I retape with painters tape when and where necessary. Kind of depends on the paint scheme.

Ooooh Doug
First, thank you so much! Very kind... but
You must have read my mind.
I was just today looking at a Utube video from Hemistorm
The video was his version of that same paint. If I thought I could I would try.
That paint is crazy cool!

Re: ??? Hydrographics ???
Oh yeah, I've completely forgotten about Hemistorm. He paints a wicked cool RC, that's for certain.
When I found that image of the BMW, I kept thinking I've seen something like that before --
