Opinons on Associated with Horizon now?
Wondering what people think on here now that Team Associated has switched to Horizon Hobby and left Great Plains/Tower Hobbies?
The local dealer I work with loves it. He doesn't care for Tower much.

I heard that they were selling to Horizon again, but they arent leaving GP
LiveRC.com
Team Associated products have turned to North American distributor Horizon Hobby for the first time in nearly seven years, with items listed for purchase on the company’s portal for retailers. Team Associated pulled its products out of Horizon Hobby in 2010, allegedly in part over the distributor’s bias toward its own brand, Team Losi Racing. However, returning to Horizon Hobby will give dealers the chance to purchase both brands in the same restocking order.
There's been no word as to when Team Associated products may be available directly to consumers through Horizon Hobby's website, but that would likely accompany an official announcement from either brand. We have been tipped off by a couple of dealers who have said their Horizon Hobby sales representatives expect to have products available for shipping within 4-5 days.
A Team Associated representative confirmed that the company will continue its relationship with Hobbico as well.
Once more information becomes available, you’ll find it here on LiveRC.

Re: Opinons on Associated with Horizon now?
Well I heard that they sort of are. They are withholding inventory from GP in favor of Horizon. Probably due to contracts they can't just stop shipping things to them at least for now.
We ran into that GP had none of Associated parts needed but Horizon had them all.
Edit: I suppose it could actually be the other way around and GP is not happy and isn't buying parts from Associated now. But from whom I talked to it was Associated that went hunting after Horizon more than other way around.

Horizon will probably find out real quick how much it sucks to have 3/4 of the Associated catalog on backorder waiting for the slow boat from China to arrive lol

Oh yeah I still can't figure out how I got these RC10 rims in after months of back-order and nobody else has any. I thought it meant the flood of backordered parts was on the horizon. (not that Horizon) But nobody else got any it seems, wish I hadn't dyed them and sold them as is instead.

Re: Opinons on Associated with Horizon now?
I got this email from MIP the other day...
Hello everyone,
It is with great disappointment that I announce that MIP and the juggernaut Hobbico have parted ways. Although it is unfortunate to part with Hobbico during this period of growth in our industry, we wish them good luck.
If you are a dealer who has bought your MIP products from Great Planes and have received a backorder notice, please contact our Sales department at [email protected] for immediate fulfillment.
Also, be sure to check out our current list of worldwide Distributors.
Additionally, if you are a Tower Hobby customer waiting for MIP Products, please shop at miponline.com. MIP products are always a quick search away.
Sincerely,
Eustace Moore Jr.

Wow
Very likely it is for nonpayment
Looks like GP is a sinking ship
They just laid off 7% of their crew too

"The business is also involved in a lawsuit with a Texas vendor called Traxxus. It was filed last month. It's in regards to patent infringement. A British company is also involved."
