WCS correct front shock mount
Hello all,
Can someone please advise on the correct front shock mount for the WCS.
I see Masami used cut down/rounded off front and rear mounts compared to those supplied in the kit.
However as so many of the build seem to be a standard 94 front mount I am a little confused as to what the exact item should look like.
Picture would be most helpful.
Thanks in advance..
Regards, Z

Do you mean Masami WCS replica? because W.C.S kit never come with the shocks.

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
Geometry wise, the shock towers on the 1993 WCS, 1994 YZ10 and 1995 WCS (Pavidis Edition) are the same with the 1995 WCS offering one less upper shock mounting hole. Visually, they are all different. Although the 1993 WCS and 1994 YZ10 shock towers look similar and are made from the same material, the lower half of the WCS shock tower is radiused compared to the 94 YZ10. Not a huge difference but a difference none the less. The shock tower on the 1995 WCS is made from carbon fibre and features a visually different design compared to the 93 WCS and 94 YZ10.
A picture tells a thousand words though. I will try and take some photos unless somebody beats me to it.
Hope this helps.
Vin

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
The Masami mounts are cut down/rounded off versions of the 'true' WCS mounts.

The supplied mounts in the WCS kit look like this;

There is no doubt that the rear is significantly different to any other with the 2 large holes.
The front is similar to that supplied in the standard 94 YZ-10 kit, however I have been advised that the holes are slightly different. - I would like to see them side by side...
Any help appreciated.

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
Now I am confused
I don't have Masami's 93 WCS to compare to but my guess is that the front shock tower is visually the same as the versions that were supplied in the 1993 WCS kits albeit slightly hand modified.
Apart from the radiused bottom edge (WCS tower is also thinner), the Production 1993 WCS front shock tower is the same design as the 1994 YZ10 tower.
I am not 100% sure what your query is.

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
Thanks Dual,
I guess my questions is a simple as;
'Is the 93WCS front tower the same as the 94 YZ10' .
If not what are the differences.
Does anyone have a part number ?

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
No problems at all.
To answer your question, no they are not the same. The 93 WCS front tower is thinner and slightly different in design than the 94 YZ10 tower. By different I mean that the lower sides of the tower are radiused.
Part number is ZD-710

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
Hi guys. This is what I got on my 94, and what most pics call a 94 front tower.

This is an exact copy besides material, of what I am told is a 95 wcs front tower.

?? So, the 93 looks exactly like the 95, except for the rounded bottom edge, as described above? If thats the case, then YAY!

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
Brian,
The CF tower is a PAVIDIS '95 tower.

The G10 tower is a 94 YZ-10, which as you say is very similar to the 93WCS apart from the chamfered lower edges.
Hope this does not confuse things more,
Regards,
Neil

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
Ugh. Im more confused than ever. Both my 94 and 95 cars came with the same cf front tower with only 1 shock location. The 94 was modified with a 97 top deck. So, when I got the cars (separately) they were not 100% stock.
I think we can agree on 93 wcs appearance anyway!

Re: WCS correct front shock mount
You need to remember one thing Neil it's Masami's car so it's been massively customised and it was a prototype to begin with. The 93WCS front tower is a 94 one like Duel said, Masami's front and rear have just been shaved to save weight to along with the chassis. If you get a 94 front tower and then the WCS rear from FL then all you need to do is dremal them down to match.
Your over thinking it dude
