I don't think there is anyway to hunt them down or at least that's what the police have pretty much said after not finding any prints or other material in the car or the golf club. However I am going to the local course this weekend and I should be able to find the guy who did it as he'll be the the only guy without a 5 iron

Terry: I am a poor student and young, living in a bad area, I only have the CHEAPEST insurance from Quinn Direct and there is no glass cover and the excess is £135, so needless to say I am doing all the work myself and the NCB is safe

As for everyone else thanks for the support. Everyone I have mentioned this too and people in the neighbourHOOD have been great. There is no point in doing this and I have a massive crook lock on the wheel so they couldn't have taken it without breaking the steering column anyway.

My colleague told me a story from his neck of the woods. He went to the pub and there were 6 luxury automobiles there, one old junk car and his car (which he left unlocked as he had a few to many) all left overnight. The next day he came back to pick up his car and of all the ones touched (bear in mind his was unlocked) it was the old junk car which was broken into. They smashed the door handles and locks trying to open the doors but couldn't break in, so they smashed both side windows to get in. They then tried to get the steering lock off and snapped the steering column rendering the car undrivable. These guys are idiots!

Indeed. It is my first car too (I only applied for a driving license late in life, though have been driving since I was a boy). It's great. Ford Escort Mk5 1992 5 door 1.6l 16V hatchback in blue. It was in mint condition when I got it with only one old old man owner, but between the Nottingham thugs and my bmxs it has acquired quite a bit of wear.

Anyway I have the new windscreen fitted now and just need to clear some money for the side windows...
