"Snake Race": Remind Me

Anybody remember the snake race? I forgot exactly what it was. Club nights at the LHS when I was younger: Something like end of the night, pay-in, run the track in opposite direction with no corner marshals?, etc. Like prison rules or something. I remember never participating because I didn't have the money to buy-in and I didn't care for the bashing that resulted because I didn't have money for a lot of spares either.
