Yeah, we use a chemical at work called midnight blue for some ornamental steel jobs. Turned out ok, better than rust. Not as durable as black oxide or whatever the original coating

Awesome resto! Looks like he machined off the hex on the shock body.

Excellant job on the restoration! Looks like new again! Glad to see you used the proper servo mounts as well. :wink:

Those kits came both with the tape, and mount blocks. Truck turned out great!! Were those shock bodies ran on a belt sander, I think they look cool!
