Need 6 gear trans parts- where to get?
Need 6 gear trans parts- where to get?
I just got a 1990 RC10 with a six gear transmission. I don't know much about these or cars in general other then I figured out it was old. I am into electric planes and helis but wanted to get something that my young son and I could do together.
The transmission is missing quite a few parts. Is there anywhere to get these? Team Associated does not have most of the parts any longer.
I am not a collector or anything I just want tear around in the backyard with my son.
If I can't easily find parts are there any other transmissions that will work? I have read of something called a stealth. Can I convert for a reasonable price or should I just scrap the car and get something more current? Thanks!
Here is a list of parts I need:
6610 idler gear pivot washer and e-clip
6606 bearing adaptor and bearing
6617 diff. tube and bearing
6621 diff. pinion gear
6623 white teflon bushing
6627 thick washer for diff.
6625 diff. drive ring(big washer)
6626 diff. balls (8 )
6653 plastic spur gear
6624 diff other hub
6628 diff. spring and nut
6604 or 6607 motor mount
6633 felt seals and plastic retainers (2sets)
6325 transmission brace
6372 spring and nylon washer (for dog bone)
6608 dust cover

please do not scrap the car sir... (reminds me of corvette summer, with mark hammil tryin to stop the car crusher in time...)
anyway, i left ya a pm when i approved you to buy/sell. but really quickly answer your question is dont bother rebuilding the 6 gear. you would have alot easier time finding a complete used 6gear or stealth for sale on ebay than you would finding those parts new.
any stealth transmission from a 1st generation rc10 or rc10t (truck) will work. you will most likely need to drill holes in the chassis and one in the old motor plate for the stealth and use a different transmission brace (which you need anyway).
fix the car up with your son, then buy him an emaxx and keep the 10 for yourself.

PM me your shipping address. I'll send you a slightly used 6 gear transmission.

It's cool to go back to the past, isn't it? I was just joking, and it's not always easy for me as my mother tongue is French...

that's great Hoopty, so you work for and with French dudes? What is your general feeling? Do not hesitate to speak frankly, I'm from Belgium (that tiny country stuck between The Netherlands and France where we have 3 official languages in our constitution (French, German and Dutch), so what are your feelings
Do you speak or understand French?

Yes, I don't want us to fall in dangerous "clichés"
By the way don't use a lot of French vocabulary in evreyday's life?
"do you want croissants chauds ma chérie?"
