Finished machining the chassis tonight


then i started assembling the car. Got the roller more or less together, but i need longer turnbuckles for the front to go with the longer arms. I also need to paint the body. I hope to have the car on the track in a couple weeks.

I'm going to have to come up with something different for the bracing, though...I'm planning on using a litespeed heatsink motor plate, and I don't see how I could get it to fit with that style bracing.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty excited to get it on the track, it's been a while in the making. I'm sure it will take a while to get it dialed in though. For starters I'm going to use the same springs as the B5M, since the weight distribution will be similar, or at least closer than a regular RC10. We'll see.

Tonight i mounted all the electronics. I put the esc on the right side of the car to help balance the motor being off-center to the left.



Test fitting the body


i put some wheels on her and took her for her maiden voyage on the street in front of my house. So far so good. We'll see how she does on the track, hopefully a week from this Thursday.

I couldn't resist the other night, i took it for a few laps on the track. No body, nothing adjusted, almost no droop in the rear, and not enough in front. Even so, it handles pretty good. I can't believe how much steering it seems to have, its very responsive. Hopefully by next week I'll get the body painted and do a preliminary setup on the suspension. I think this is going to be a really great handling car.

The steering was the first thing I noticed with NIX10M. 2wd buggies (especially RC10's) tend to push but that wasn't the case. I assume yours handles similarly.

Yeah, even with no setup its got way more steering that it did as a rear motor car. I can only imagine how well it's going to handle with a proper setup.

Once I get the bolt-in trans cases and bolt-in rear bulkhead it will be a piece of cake. I may make my chassis braces available too...
