Crap, Snapped Both Dogbones On Turbo Raider.
So my turbo raider had been running better than I thought possible on 25 year old NICDs. It was going a good 15 plus mph or more and i was having a blast reminiscing. The car was running better than I remember it as a kid (I did just tune the shocks and did an alignment with my better understanding of cars as an adult and the 17 turn motor was just fast enough to be a lot of fun. I jumped off some curbs, drifted a little blasted up and down driveways and somehow misjudged distance and smacked a curb head on at about 15 mph. No power.... weird noises and upon inspection it was obvious the cheap factory dogbones snapped where they went from plastic to steel. What junk, I don't understand how they didn't break 20 years ago. Well, the rest of the car seems ok but now I need to find dogbones on my 25 year old car.
This post http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=31298 says ultima dogbones will fit. Haven't found them yet but will look. Any particular years that fit?
Thanks!
Edit, these things are not cheap. Any suggestions where else to look?

I wonder if the ones in y big brute will fit... in of doubt it

Awhile back I picked up a lot with some parts from an XTM Baja Blade/GV Super Cobra and found that the front CVD (and a couple of other parts) were very similar to the ones used on old Kyosho cars. They even use press fit hexes. I've tried them and they will fit a Raider.
Might be something you can look into for a cheaper replacement.

I can only confirm that the front universal joints from the Baja Blade will work, I can't say whether or not the rear dog bones will work. Part number for the front UJ is 148939.
If you want to take a shot and try those rear you can get them much cheaper on eBay. $5.00 shipped. Just search for XTM 148904.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I saw that on the KYOSHO WEBSITE but it says it is out of stock. http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/DIS--Swing-shaftOT6_p_6688.html
Wonder if they will ever have them again.

Re: Crap, Snapped Both Dogbones On Turbo Raider.
Well, I put the dogbones from the Ultima in the raider. They "fit" but seem a touch too small. They make more metalic noise and i am afraid over time may cause wear issues.....
I guess I really have no other potential options unless I spent big money on the upgraded raider universals.
Edit, these may do the trick!

What is the length of the dog bone you are using? The OT-006 length is 63mm pin to pin. The stock length on the raider is 64mm pin to pin. That would make sense if you think it is shorter.

Not to nitpick but the Optima 'bones are exactly 62.5mm pin-to-pin.SFC K wrote:What is the length of the dog bone you are using? The OT-006 length is 63mm pin to pin. The stock length on the raider is 64mm pin to pin. That would make sense if you think it is shorter.

Sounds right but I will have to take your word as mine literally shattered.Coelacanth wrote:Not to nitpick but the Optima 'bones are exactly 62.5mm pin-to-pin.SFC K wrote:What is the length of the dog bone you are using? That would make sense if you think it is shorter. So they're a full 1.5mm shorter than the stock Raider 'bones.
