XRC 1/5 scale renovation

Post by GoMachV »

Got this in a trade for a couple cars I had taking up shelf space. Luckily he paid shipping, cause 38lbs cost him $75 to travel up one state

It has a China motor on it with a pipe, a few upgraded alloy bits and was very poorly engineered. I'm talking REAL poorly engineered. The side body mounts are plastic and part of the engine mount. The final pinion is supported on just one side (I know this is common practice but still a stupid design!) . The shock tower in the front and the radio tray were thin spring steel. The rear shock upper mounts to the upper arm pivot, offset... So if the shaft ever rotated your car drops 1/4"

I'm trying to fix those things.

First off, some 1/8" g10 love. Front tower, radio tray and switch mount. Traxxas receiver box. Cleaned up linkages and replaced important screws with some of decent quality.

Next up, custom rear tower, alternate fuel tank and fix rear gear mesh.

You have one heck of a project in a half there. The new blue parts look great and add some need color to it. Looking forward to seeing what else you do to it. :D

Those gears look rough, have you run it yet? Meaning bench test and all.

Gears are new, first thing I ordered
Updated to the dampened style spur and new plastic clutch gear. Hopefully I will get to play with it tomorrow or Monday.

And yes, fires right up!

You´ve had it on the stove all day, to make sure it started by the first kick

If it isn´t running after three pulls - buy a new (local lumberjack humor)
