My updated JRX2

Post by fredswain »

I got this car new in 1988. In truth so many things have been replaced since then, who knows if anything is still original? Let's just assume that it is and that it's mostly restored. I've gone through many updates and iterations. Different chassis, long front towers, different towers all around, H-arms and back, etc. It even had a JCar direct drive on it at one point. I decided that I wanted the 5-link again. I also wanted the lower 20 degree nose kick. That left the original chassis as the option so it went back to mostly stock appearing. The gearbox is updated with a Thorpe metal gear diff. It's also got a Hydradrive. The front end uses the Pro-SE tower since I couldn't achieve spring balance through the total amount of travel with the stock tower. The bellcranks are RPM inline. I like the way this worked out. The rear bulkhead battery box is cut out. This allowed me to place the esc all the way back and add a second battery cup so I could centrally mount a shorty pack. The front battery box has it's front cutout so the battery sits against the servo. Ball cups and ball studs are from the 22. Turnbuckles are Lunsford Punisher.

It has 2.2 wheels all around. I use 1/8" custom works spacers at the rear. The front end uses B4 inline steering spindles that are filed down to fit and are equipped with RC10GT wide axles. I currently have Rulux wheels on it but typically just run standard B4 wheels. It is currently setup with a Hobbywing Justock 17.5 combo with a fan added to the esc. The car handles wonderfully. It soaks up bumps as well as anything I've ever driven and turns on a dime. The funny thing is that out of all of the JRX car's that I've had, including the Pro-SE, this particular car and particular setup is the best handling of them all. No pics of the body. It is pretty badly beaten up and in need of replacement.

Love it! This is exactly what I want to do with my JRX2. It just shows with a few choice updates this car can still hold its own! Very nice.

looks awesome, i want to get my jrx-2 back together but i haven't been able to find the 5 link set up for sale for what i am willing to spend. So i will get the pro-se finished. from what i remember, i liked my pro-se on the x2 chassis.

Great looking buggy. Just reminds me how much I need to get started on a JRX2 myself.

Another great looking Jrx2. I know its RC10 Talk, but I could never see too many Jrx2s!

Fred, find MF2 rear axles and spacers :) No more custom works needed. I'll get a pic when I have a chance, fits the slider shafts with no issues.

I did the same here, although the parts were marked for the XXX BK2...
