Re: Flat Tire Hodja´s Flying Rug
Looks really cool! At first I thought I was looking at the car the wrong way, but it appears that the front wheels are wider than the rears. Just wondering why?

The wheels are the same width, but the front overall width looks wider than the rear indeed... or is it lens deformation/perspective?Coelacanth wrote:Looks really cool! To allow the wheels to turn left and right, on some models the front truck wheels have a different offset from the rear wheels.
You can see that in the pics of this model too. To compensate kyosho used shorter arms in the front than in the rear.
With the original wheels that 'd work out perfect but the wheels Dennis used were not for this model.
He'd need wheels with more offset in the rear or (if it doesn't interrupt with the arms and stering knukles) less offset on the front.
Dennis,
Maybe you could get J82 rims and tires for the front and go with a buggy style body? or use pro-x arms on the front , but I suppose that'll make it too arrow

Re: Flat Tire Hodja´s Flying Rug
Thanks for the kind words -
The difference is caused by different offset front to rear. Per wheel it´s 12 mm.
I´ve got a couple of buggy´s allready, so this one will keep on truckin´.
I think the rims are Proline revolvers? - one day I´ll come across a pair with the right offset.
Edit: With the same wheel offset front to rear, there´s still a 10mm difference per wheel.
So I´ll be looking for some narrow offset fronts.

Do you want me to measure the pro-x front arm from hinge pin to hingepin for you?

Many thanks for the kind offer, Mr. ED - but I´m so fortunate that I´ve got a couple of Pro-x myself.Mr. ED wrote:Do you want me to measure the pro-x front arm from hinge pin to hingepin for you?

The really anoying part about the original rims, is the bearing size. They´re 6x10 and I´ve only got one set of rims that match that bearing size. I´ve got a set of 4 rims with the right offset but they must be for the 10T - my metric bearings sure doesn´t fit.
Perhaps I´ll replace the front axles with buggy ones, they´re 5mm IIRC?

Re: Flat Tire Hodja´s Flying Rug
I lost you somewhat: are you sure this truck doesn't use imperial sized bearings? I think I tried them with 10x5mm bearings but couldn't fit those: too tight
Anyway the design of the front C carriers and steering knuckles is pretty much standard on your truck right? You could replace those parts with losi jr-x2 parts to get imperial sized axles, or mount some Carriers and knuckles from the optima; to use with rear rims... well you get the idea.
I think I have a set of the original front wheels or know where to find them if you need those.

Re: Flat Tire Hodja´s Flying Rug
I´ve just consulted the manual, it´s metric 6x10 mm bearings.
Many thanks for the offer on the wheels, I might take You up on that.
