Here are some teaser shots of my ultima MK1 with a lengthwise mounted battery.

lazer zx steering bellcranks, red velvet shocks, telescoping driveshafts and optima rear hubs, front rb-5 hub conversion.

Who made those shafts? Were they designed for use with the ultima?

nah, they look different: spline looks square shaped in this built, and the more traditional cylinder shape with ribs on the thorp units.

They were made by CSC for different vehicles including the RC10

Ah, that's right, you had some sliders on your JPS ultima too.
What else did this company make?

Sliders on my Ultima are from Thorp. Don't know much about other products made by CSC. Mainly small hop-ups like arm mounts and the like. Quite obscure and limited production.

Got the shafts off ebay and till now didn't know who made them. They were listed as fitting ultima series cars and they do fit but the threads are standard thread and the motor plate needed to be filed a little to clear the outdrive. They are very nice and very precise with zero play but butter smooth, also they use a standard kyosho tapered drive washer and fit the optima/ultima hubs with no issues.

Got more done, I used the alloy body from my alumaultima build and added a little vinyl and decals.

It´s a really nice build, shocks and body really sets it of.

But those wheels, imo, has got to go

Thanks, The wheels are mainly pavement pounders, eventually I was envisioning red chrome rim with a narrow rim up front. Its been a really fun build and I still have to fab a driver and air scoop, not to mention all the tweaks. Its a runner and handles excellent.
