Got my shapeways pack yesterday and noticed the hung pin holes if the rear arm mounts are not totally drilled through. How can I fix this with basic tools and why was it possible to do it for the front bulkhead and not for the rear arm mounts? I also understood that the bulkhead should actually be 30 degrees and not 25, will there be another more exact one released? Otherwise I'm very impressed with the quality of the printed parts, a bit too flexible indeed, especially for the arms.

It depends on printing direction if holes are perfect or not. Material inside rear arm mount hinge pin holes is mostly hard packed nylon powder. It should come out quite easily with a small drill bit. At least mine did. Check out...

I'm working on a "30deg on 25deg kickup" bulkhead together with different versions of rear arm mounts for race/runner use.

I used my .127 reamer. Worked awesome. I had a slight "D" shape in some holes as mentioned but it wasn't bad. I also ran a tap thru all the holes for the shocks on the rear arms before dying them

The fit so far is great, especially for what this project is! good job guys 8)

Shock prep set available now ! Clips are 7.8mm, 4.0mm, 2.0mm, 1.1mm. Thanks Peter.
Obviously I haven't tested these yet but I'm confident parts are OK.

Excellent. I edited clips to 7.8mm, 4mm, 2mm and 1.1mm based on Peter's measurements.
Spring sleeve on front shock body match nicely to Stealth pictures with these clip heights.

I have made some findings while working with SLS parts. As parts are created layer by layer, in certain areas those layers will be visible. Even it's just a visual defect, it could be controlled with control of print direction. But in this case, I can not control it. Shapeways own manufacturing process does it. Print direction defines also how all holes prints out. If hole is perpendicular to print direction, it's round and sharp. If parallel to print direction, hole will have a shape of letter "D" when hole "roof" melts down when laser hits nylon powder. It's extra material, not missing anywhere else from actual part geometry. Best way for me to clean, for example hinge pin holes, was to use brand new high quality 1/8" or 3.2-3.3mm drill bit. SLS material is so viscous that old drills just don't work and hole will be smaller than wanted. Just hold SLS part in your hand - use electric screwdriver speed and let drill bit find its way through. It was easy and fast and provided really good result.

I used a brand new 1/8th bit and find the hinge pins tight, I will try a reamer later. I would not suggest tapping the holes with a 4-40 tap, as the screws do not fit as tightly as they would be self tapped by the screw. I did also run a 3/32 drill bit at low speed through each screw hole.

There is one other thing with the servo saver that could be corrected with a new design. There is no recessed hex for the aluminium servo saver tube to slot into.

I just need my chassis parts now....... Ahem!... Jake? Must be busy searching all the Asian bride sites! :P

I want to again say a big thanks for making these kits for us, Jake, Niki, and any others involved!

You can also use a #30 drill bit for hinge pin holes

Message from Shapeways considering current version of "Stealth Shock Prep Set SLS"

"
Reason: Model or Part Too Small
Description: This product has parts that are too small to be manufactured in this material. In order for us to print, clean, quality check, and ship your model, we must be able to handle all of the parts without losing them through various stages of manual and automatic processes. We therefore require that the smallest part of the product to have the sum of its dimensions be greater than 25mm. (X + Y + Z > 25mm).
All materials specified as dyed or polished are manually cleaned and then submerged in a circular vibratory tumbler full of thousands of ceramic pellets for several hours. Each pellet is approximately 4.5mm wide and 11mm long, and will exert a slight pressure on all sides of your model during polishing.
Any part that is smaller than the size of one pellet is typically lost or not polished consistently on all of its surfaces.
"

I will make a sprue for the parts... like it was injection molded. Just a moment...
