The movie RAD is probably a staple of youth for the members here. That and Pee Wee's Big adventure...

There's a Dan's Comp manufacturing facility 2 miles from me and in the showroom in the front they keep RAD on continuous loop.alien3t wrote:just like members here. there is a RAD fb page. and guys that are restoring bikes down to the restored pics, and number plates proper stickers from the movie. someone has loaded the full movie to youtube. better than the converted to computer from vhs download i found. lol

Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread
Finally finished this build after hitting BMX Society's bike show last month. I originally found the frameset hanging in a small bike shop years ago. I believe it's a 1994 but I re-stickered it like an '85 (cheating I know but it looks so much cooler). Built her up with a bunch of cool NOS parts, the hardest one to locate being the odd 25.8mm sized chrome Redline seatpost. She rides super smooth, I think the geometry on the frame is better than my GT cruiser. I may swap out the bars with some Redline/Kos cruiser styled ones but until then here she is.

Was stoked to see my neighbor make hall of fame. In the article it describes a jump competition Martin one a jump contest, Was a 8 foot head start and a 1 foot high jump. He still has that bike.

Sweet Redline!
alien3t, Martin is your neighbor? I hope you ride with him now and then, he's a legend and from what I've seen online, he's still got it!

was a neighbor, He lived across the street 2 doors down from my grandmas. so when he was learning to ride, my uncle was the oen with the compressor fillign up his tires. Years later he moved out, then bought the house from his parents. He took a long hiatis from riding. When this stuff for rad and some other things popped up last few years he started riding again. His wife used ot be a top 10 inline skater. HE had moved about 6 years ago. but still came around. I watched him and pros growning up always a great guy. We used ot ride all his bikes.MelvinsArmy wrote:Sweet Redline!

Yeah, I remember a few years back that he was the one that people talked about, "where's Martin?" it was cool to see him resurface again.

Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread
Heads up for this upcoming movie!

It's written, directed, and produced by Eric Bugbee, an old elementary and middle school friend i used to ride with, until my family moved to the next town over and we just lost touch.
It's being promoted as this generations new "RAD", and Cru Jones is even in it.
Looks like it was shot locally to me...... in the Lehigh Valley. Allentown, Catasaqua (Catty for short, my old hometown and where a lot of the filming was done at the Cattywoods Trails).

Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread
I just picked up a new ’15 SE Racing “Retro” P.K. Ripper loop tail. I've wanted one of these since I was a kid… only took me thirty years. The pictures don’t do it justice and the quality is super nice. This is bike #003, I know they’re limited but I’m not sure how many were produced. I've been riding around the neighborhood with my son and having a lot of fun, this thing is a total time-machine.

Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread
If I wanted to pick up a used Cruiser, something to ride around on thats bigger than my 24' Kastan Mosh, what should I look for in a Crusier?
If I wanted something Retro w/o breaking the bank, what kind of $$ would I be wanting to spend and what is desirable and appreciating in value?
