Pulled the stock battery tray out last night for the newer version. Its just more lipo friendly, even though it takes away from the "old" on this car. Was messing around and dropped a set of hexes on the rear axles, the Kyosho wheels bolt right up, correct offset and all. Since I have the JConcepts tires already glued up on the K Car wheels, I will use those today in the re-maiden voyage at the track. I need to put the MIP steering in and go have some fun today. I'll get some pics of it in the dirt (I hope).

Lets just say O M F G...this thing is a blast and a half.

Gearing is pretty dead on for a 17.5, 29/72 on the original LRM. Really quick.

I did put the MIP steering in, but left that poor excuse for a servo in there. Running the stock Ultima wheels with the JConcepts tires mounted up that car would push a bit. Later I dropped on my 2.2s with HotBodies Gigabytes and HotBodies ribs up front. W O W. Car came alive and it was flyin'.

I do need to build up a spare LRM with the slipper. I was beating on the stock non-slipper tranny pretty hard. I wasnt being very nice.

I did break in the main, a cross pin came out and the female side of the slider decided to leave the car in spectacular fashion. A wicked cartwheel over the large triple. Wimpered to a stop shortly after.

How did you lose a crosspin? You using the new style that use a setscrew?

No idea, they are the originals from when the car was built. The new LRM will have that style in there.

Sounds like you had great fun! I guess you had the same experience as me when driving the X2 for the first time? You expect the car to feel 'vintage' on the track, but they don't, that 5 link gives the car awesome traction driving out of corners & generally they are so 'safe' that you can really drive with aggression. I would imagine that with a 17.5 motor in there your car would be losing very little (if any) from the modern buggies.

P.S, great info on the wheels/hexes by the way, off what Kyosho model do the wheels come off?

Keep your eyes peeled. Most 17.5 racers are a motor of the week/month, they usually cast off last months motor for pennies :) I dont think I have paid over $30 for a 17.5 motor yet.

No racing for a couple weeks, gotta recover from holiday spending  but I will go over the JRX and clean it up, its pretty dirty.
