Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
So I got a 'bad' style case and a bad top shaft....and bad idler?
I spoke to a guy about 30 minutes ago and he said to call back in an hour to talk with Bob Stormer. Just want to get my info straight before I call.
Thanks guys.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
not everyone had problems. build it and find out or send it back and get the old style kit.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
Exactly, it's not a guaranteed problem just not the actual kit. He may not know they are different.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
Well, I'm a little bit annoyed about it because I thought what I was ordering was a #6560 kit, not a bag-o-parts.
And you're right, it doesn't have the brace, so what am I going to do there?
Waiting for Bob to get back into the office. Hopefully it can be sorted out....with a proper #6560 kit, but my expectations are dwindling.
I bet he knows exactly what's going on.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
Keep in mind the brace is a couple bucks, the motor plate and gear cover are far more! I think it was a good deal actually, but if the case and or shaft are a problem it may be more difficult to get associated to cover it since it was from a kit not a trans only kit
Maybe he will send you the 6565 case and 6570 idler, who knows!

And a top shaft? What's the P/N I'd want?gomachv wrote:Maybe he will send you the 6565 case and 6570 idler, who knows!
So far he's been like Polkaroo. "You just missed him. Try back in another 30min to 1hr." haha

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
Were there any problems with the top shafts in the proper US kits?
I opened and built one worlds kit which had the top shaft issue, I also bought a US stealth kit, somewhere along the line I had a new top shaft that made its way into the mix.
Comparing the worlds problem top shaft to I presume the top shaft from the US kit they are both identical, both machined further than a used B4 shaft that I compared them to. I don't really want to take the trans out my OIN again to compare but I'm curious.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
What about the diff gears themselves....you have the cream colored one (that comes with the worlds car) where the balls fall right in and then the black one(that comes in the stealth kit) ) where you have to press the balls down into place. Is one preferred over the other???
Seems like the only replacement diff gear is th black one. (Part# 6580) .

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
Material wise the tan gears should be superior, but in actual usage I can't say

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
i ordered 2 6065 stealth kits out of ebay boredom last week.
last night i opened up a worlds re-re kit and got to work on the trans. after reading a little here i didn't really have any hopes it would spin nice or clear the motor plate, but i figured id at least find out for myself.
like many here I've put together ALOT of stealths over the years, and the second i managed to snap the new case together with the kit internals i knew it was garbage... decided to put the motor mount and slipper on to see if i had that problem too, and yep the slipper made contact with the motor mount. absolute crap trans. I'm a big fan of it aint broke you don't fix it, and i dont understand what was broke about the original design.
anyway, decided no big deal right? i'll just use one of my 6065 kits. but out of the two stealth kits only one had the properly machined topshaft. so it might be old news, but yeah there are bad shafts in the 6065 bag kits as well.
i couldn't believe the crappyness of the revised kit stealth. somebody wasn't paying attention to somebody else's lack of quality and craftsmanship.

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
Good to know. I hadn't heard of the mismachined shaft in the trans kit yet. I agree, the old case was good. Us Americans especially should know, "change" isn't all it's cracked up to be

Re: RE RE STEALTH TRANS
No, that's pretty much the summary here- the kit trans is junk. Install a 6565 case, 6570 idler, and get a non-mismachined top shaft and it will be great tho!besty22 wrote:Has anyones re re kit transmission gone together well?
