What do you use to initially clean up plastics

I've seen them used to clean and polish parts, just use the abrasive slurry same as with polishing a rock

There are lots of different medias that give you lots of different finishes. You can use them for everything from knocking rust off stuff to polishing.
My ultrasonic cleaner and tumbler hardly get any rest

Has anyone tried Oxy Clean yet? (the stuff your woman may use in the laundry, comes in a powder)
I'm going to try it very soon to see if it brightens up the parts any. My normal go-to cleaning method is to soak parts for a few days in a bucket of water and simple green, then use a brush and cloth to get the grime off.

i'm still pretty new to this but i use simple green and hot water... let them sit for a hour or 2 then tooth brush.. found that it also removes tamiya thread glue easy as..

+1 on the Awesome, but be careful, using it full strength on your monster beetle wheels, or older Traxxas chrome painted wheels. You'll end up with white ones!

It will also do a job on aluminum.
Awsome is cheap and strong!

Cast aluminum and awesome is the worst. It burns the aluminum almost upon the touch. I have a OS .12 that will be bead blasted now lol

I like Awesome a lot, but use it after testing on a sample part. I have had it turn RC10 bellcranks chalky so I'm leery of any shiny plastics with it now

Have your ultrasonic cleaner given you any trouble?
How do you empty yours?
I ask because I've hear of liquid getting inside through the gap between the metal pan and the plastic shell. There's supposed to be a seal inside, but I've heard of failures that lead to water mixing with electronics and letting the magic smoke escape.

My first attempt was cleaning/degreasing transmission halves. Dawn soap/water in a baggie, suspended in clean water. Knocked some bits off, but didn't affect the grease at all. Not especially hot, and only for 3 or 4 minutes...same big Harbor Freight model.

Never seen it done inside a Baggie before. I pour the soap and water directly in the tub. Never had a single problem with it btw. If using soap it goes down the drain or under the tree outside.

Are you using the heat? Mine really starts working once it's pretty hot

I did an initial overnight soak and cleaning then an overnight soak in an oxy clean solution. Seemed to work well. . I need to get a picture of the results.
