Re: Finally Finished My DS
Modified the front end with SC10 caster and steering blocks(Thanks to all the help fellow RC10Talk members!)
Threw in an Atomik Fireball 21x2 motor
Old Novak Fusion speed control
Hitec karbonite dual ball bearing Servo
Hpi classic wheels and tires
Lastly a radio system that came out of an old HPI Nitro RS4 RTR. I'm pretty sure it's an Airtronics.
A good enough low budget build for bashing around in the street.

Re: Finally Finished My DS
It is fun. I tried to keep in on the relatively slow and safe side. replacement parts aren't exactly cheap and easy to come by. I doubt I could handle it with the 5700 KV brushless lipo setup I have in my T3/B3. I can only imagine how fast and twitchy it would be. I am dying to toss it in and see what happens though.
My only gripe is that the HPI tires haven't lasted very long. No more than ten packs through and the rear tires are toast. there's no wear in the middle it's all situated by the sidewalls. Both sidewalls so it's not a camber problem, or is it? It has literally worn straight though right where the tires transition for the sidewall the to flat tread. I don't think the stock foam inserts are sufficient enough. The front tires have the exact same wear pattern as well just not nearly as severe.

Re: Finally Finished My DS
I have the castle 5700 in mine but im running a 7.2 stick pack. I have it geared higher than stock so i can only imagine what it would be like to drive with lipos.
My lil mustang DS was easily controllable and seemed to fair well on the parking lot. i haven't run into the tire issue yet as Ive only run about 3 packs on these.
I do recall wearing out a vintage set on my nitro mustang and they do wear funny.

Re: Finally Finished My DS
yeah im not feeling the wing either. definitely looks better without it. the rear bumper/clip is a separate piece and is held on with servo tape. I felt the wing was needed to help secure the two body pieces together as the screw passes through all three pieces.
