Are 2.4ghz Receivers interchangeable Between Brands?

Are 2.4ghz Receivers interchangeable Between Brands?
I have a Futaba 3PL FHSS system. Am I stuck with only Futaba FHSS receivers or are there cheaper aftermarket alternatives that are fully compatible?

I only know of the ones from Hobby King that are compatible for the FASST systems. I have used the FrSky ones with great results.
The Futaba FHSS ones you can get pretty cheap on eBay for around 30 dollars though.
