Batteries that fit sideways

Does anybody still make a battery that fits in the car sideways? My mounting holes to mount the battery in line with the car arent centered or countersunk so my only option that looks decent is sideways. some of the 7.2 batteries might fit if I cut the battery cups but the wires on the side still dont fit.

you mean drill new holes and with my luck, They will be big enough to put my pinky through them.

this also brings up another question. When comparing Lipo to Nimh, what is the amperage output?

If you don't want to drill, you can attach thr battery cups with double sided tape.

I know it would look funny as hell but I am considering getting a 1/16 car battery. Its the same voltage but much lower amps being output. Not sure how that will fly with vintage electronics.

I've had a battery cup attached to my chassis with 3m double sided tape for years. If you clean both surfaces with alcohol beforehand, it's a strong bond.
For a high turn motor, 1/16 batteries will be fine but sure would look strange.
Why not just use double sided tape?

I use lipos made for TRX mini eRevo... 2200mAh @ 40-80C is plenty current.
Or shorty lipo packs with std square profile easier to find still.

T's Tyrrell 6-wheeler uses shorty 1700NP packs made with 4/5th subC cells in twin tube layout.
Some 3rdparties have made same packs from NiMH cells for more capacity.
These are as wide as a 5-cell ladder pack so they're good for SandScorcher etc

Most companies make "Shorty Packs". They work great in tight spaces. A lot of racers use them so they can shift the weight where they want it.

im just left going wtf right now, I ordered a battery, the kind that should have fit, well when I get it, its longer than the normal batteries you see. how the hell does that happen. 6 of them sideways was like 1/3 a cell longer than the kind where they are end to end with the caps too. Now I've just wasted money on another battery that I most likely wont use. wonder if I can return it.

Side-by-side packs are longer than shotgun style packs. The only packs that would fit with the original offset battery mounting position were shotgun packs with no end caps. Did the dimensions match the description on the site?

I bought a used CE this winter that came with a Turnigy pack that will fit sideways, if you chop out the ends of the battery cups. It's snug, but not too tight.

Did you get a nimh battery? Their cells are slightly larger than nicads.
