Re: I had a bad day!
Thank you so much for the comforting words guys! You have no idea how much this is helping me right now! I'm actually crying a bit!
I consider all of you my friends and it helps to hear your positive thoughts. Thank you! I know we will be ok after a while! I have been through a few bad losses! Two hurricanes while living in Jamaica, one (Gilbert) I lost everything and was sleeping on a lawn chair under the stars.
I have also started over before with nearly nothing again, moving my wife and two small children back to Canada, leaving my paid property and home behind! I'm much better off now, so I know I can do this!
What sucks is we just painted, put in hardwood floors and tile, and renovated the bathrooms!
Thanks again for the uplifting words everyone!![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

Youch! Make sure they leave your claim open even when everything seems to be back to normal. Like gomachv said, items liek electronics may work initially, but due to the residue inside stop working before their normal life-span would call for. It depends a lot on your insurance coverage.slotcarrod wrote:What sucks is we just painted, put in hardwood floors and tile, and renovated the bathrooms!![]()
As I stated in 2010, this is a good reminder for everyone to double-check their homeowner's and make sure it's more than enough. A few dollars worth of extra coverage a month can make a huge difference! Look for phrases like "Ultra Coverage". That's my PSA for the day...

That's rough and I hope everything works out for you quickly.
Lipos are a real PITA and it'll be a big relief when the hobby moves on to a safer battery.![Neutral :|](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)

Re: I had a bad day!
The funny thing, looking at the damage with the fire inspector and adjuster. The charger was burnt from the inside and looked to have shorted out! If not, In any case, it should have detected a full charge and did not! But still not 100% sure, but as rc guys we all can tell. The Inspector took what was left of the power supply, chargers and lipos.

Sorry to hear Rod
I'm so glad to hear no one, including the dogs, was hurt. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that the insurance will take care of you, and properly compensate you for the loss of your RC collection. In time, you will replace it...
Best wishes

Re: I had a bad day!
Slotcarrod, I ditto the well wishes from the other members. I am very sorry to hear about your loss and thankful you and your family are ok. I had a very similar incident a few years ago with a NimH battery pack. I had never had any issues with it, and left it charging while I did some other tasks. About 20 minutes into the charge cycle, my fire alarm went off, the room was filled with smoke and the battery had exploded. I discovered a short time later this particular battery had a recall notice, and Tower Hobby refunded my purchase price. I appreciate you posting your experience – It’s a very sobering reminder of the dangers associated with the new batteries.
Hopefully over time you can rebuild your collection and the many members here can play a role in helping…

I’m glad nobody got hurt. It really sucks how much destruction a battery for a toy car can cause. Best of luck on getting your place back together.

Hi Rod, I'm new here but have already benefitted from some of your posts. Sorry to hear of the fire but glad you got out safely and your family wasn't home at the time.
