Pink tub RC10

Post by SVOC »

In my search for information I ran across this fantastic site you all have here, and have been able to gain a vast amount of knowledge so far.

So I figured I'll start with posting my rescued RC10 I obtained from a client that used to race back in the day (1988) with his dad (Schumacher CAT XLS in the back ground), and as you all have started talking about powder coated chassis colors, I have a pink one, no where near the condition of the Green Machine I saw in another thread here but none the less I'm sure a rare if not a little odd to see Hot Pink Pan.
Yes that is some sort of plastic protection on the bottom of the pan, and as you take it off the sticky stays.

WARNING, these are pretty graphic :(

Wow poor chassis  Looks like it stayed in a pound for several winters, aluminium has even oxidised under the powdercoating. You can probably easily remove the sticky with WD40 or White Spirit.

Yeah I warned everyone it was graphic, but in any case, I will strip it down and try to clean it up.

I have used PB Blaster and Goo Gone with successful result for removing stripes and other stickers off Shelby's so I have a good feeling it will work here, just a lot of work :/

I saw your Pink "Truck" this morning while doing a search, and between yours and the Green Machine, I think I will dye the white pieces black, and remove the ano off the shock assy.

I didn't get a pic of the rear but it is running an MIP transmission also.

i really don't think that chassis will be all that bad once all of the clear protector and glue is removed.

Be careful with any solvents on the powder coating. I would only use alcohol or wd40 to get rid of glue residue and such.

I could already tell from the first few pics with the foams and the decal that your buggy probably had a TrackMaster tranny. It may seem odd, but I have an obsession with aftermarket RC10 transmissions. :D

The one in yours is a TrackMaster aluminum X-Caliber direct-drive.

You also have some nice Parma shock collars on the rear, you don't see these everyday. Also a Parma motor cooler...

WOW, WOW, WOW!

Thanks for all the insightful information everyone, that a big help.

And thank to whoever split the thread up to make this one it's own

So I have read about vintage races and this has been going through my mind as a cool homage to this little RC10, with again, period correct paint job on lexan.

You can also use a mix of baking soda and vegetable oil as a goo/residue remover. Works well with some rubbing and is safe on most surfaces. Just mix in a little oil at a time till you have a milky paste. I used it on both of my rc10 tubs to remove very old double sided tape and such.
