He could be describing a Tamiya Boomerang, but that's shaft-driven 4WD. Colors kinda match...

The Boomerang was hot back then. So was the Big Wig...Coelacanth wrote:He could be describing a Tamiya Boomerang, but that's shaft-driven 4WD. Colors kinda match...
Big enough?
I might have to email the family and see if they still have it kicking around.

The Beagle was a cheap knock-off of the Optima.

He even mentioned that it was a Kyosho Optima clone in his email. Didn't say "cheap" though. haha
I remember thinking it was pretty awesome. He says he still has it (and the Hornet) in their basement.

Eh- looks like the Optima was an overpriced version of that thing to me. Or rather it looks the same. What's different?Coelacanth wrote:The Beagle was a cheap knock-off of the Optima.

Beagle came with a faux celebration chassis and an actual motor guard.

I´ve got two new Beagle´s both with broken mounts for the rear suspension mount plate. Neither has been ran, all happend during transit.
Would be really nice if they´d re-release it
Yes I know, mine are the BLUE BIRD Baja Growler, but it´s just like AA meetings, You feel compelled to share.

That's not part of the gearbox housing is it? I think I know where one exists

Lots of inferior materials. I've read several people's builds of those clones and although they look very similar, the quality was where they cut corners...just like any other knock-off.Charlie don't surf wrote:Eh- looks like the Optima was an overpriced version of that thing to me. True, and I bet they used ABS plastic instead of glass-filled nylon for "important" parts like the control arms.rccars4sal wrote:Ive got one, and the top deck seems to be made of pressed cardboard! Its going to get the full optima hop up treatment...
