Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
AE popping out some white wide track arms isn't going to wreck the value of someone's collection any more than the rest of the new parts have. original parts are still original parts, and will fetch premium prices. i'd much rather AE remake them than see people go big on nip originals on ebay and bolt them onto a rere....

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
For the record.... I made a little drilling jig for the extra holes that are on the original worlds bulkhead for the ballstuds so I could drill them on my re-re bulkhead.... The re-re bulkhead has shrinkage kinda like the Chinese Pro-Tech bodies. I made the jig from an original worlds bulkhead and when I lined it up on the re-re bulkhead, the holes did not match. I thought maybe I messed up, so I made another one with the same results..... So just putting that out there. Don't know if that has been covered or not... But it could be possible the rear arms are smaller too. Haven't tested that one yet.
I would say the holes are apprx. 1mm narrower per side (2mm overall)..

Exactly.... And as far as "not pushing it" goes..... Associated isn't running a charity for all of us retro enthusiasts. They're making buckets of cash with all the individual small parts orders. Tons of margin there. The re re run has probably netted the company better returns since the awesome suggestion of the RTR.
Brb...... I'm in the middle of placing a $500 order in parts off Tower.

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
I am pretty happy for what we got... However I would not mind having all the parts in white!
It would be nice to make a re-re team car if there is no plans on AE making one, at least we could make our own if we had the parts for it.
We still have the Viper body available so it only seems logical.

I'd like some white front arms too.
I'd also like some 3 piece front and rear wheels, build a nice CE.

Dang,
Been real bussy lately and completly missed this announcement. I just put my pre-order in but I bet there won't be enough to go around
Maybe I'll stop buy my LHS and ask them to order one for me as well. Worst case, I end up with two.

Very true which is why I committed to ONE re-re gold pan and no more of anything AE-related knowing full well there was a good chance TT/AE would continue the re-re production. Gotta have some self control which is probably easier for me to say since I'm not a diehard AE fanatic. That said, if I keep reading this blog you never know.

Apart from wide arms in white, I'd like to see 25 deg uprights and 1.5 deg rear uprights in white.

I'm hoping all this re-re stuff from AE is gonna make Losi/TLR think about doing something similar with the Jrx2, but I am probably getting my hopes up a little high here!

One of two things will happen, the vintage/Re-Re craze will last a year or two and die off and we'll have parts support for a little while.
Or
The vintage/Re-Re craze will take off with other manufacturers such as Losi and we'll have a rather solid vintage foundation.
At the end of day I hope it takes hold but I think it will slowly die off after 2 years.

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
Yup, agreed. Just like touring cars etc, people get bored of racing the same vehicles, so popularity of a certain type tends to go around in circles, like touring cars at the moment, certainly in the UK, buggies are the new big thing for the last few years. When touring cars first became popular, everyone sold their buggies to get a TC, now its gone around the other way...RC10th wrote:One of two things will happen, the vintage/Re-Re craze will last a year or two and die off and we'll have parts support for a little while.

Re: #6002 - RC10 Worlds Car Kit
The cold facts are, vintage may never really take hold at the club level most are accustom to. But that is okay.
I imagine vintage rc racing existing more at the exhibition and nationals level.
Talking your everyday club folks into buying a new kit, swapping electronic, gluing more tires and marshaling another class on a club night is a tall order.
I think the availability of parts will lead to more exposure and thus more periodic "get togethers" at the annual or bi monthly basis as apposed to your every Tuesday club night.
I would love to see more pros representing their brand's historic cars at major events, like the reedy, or ETS or Ifmar On and Offroad Worlds. It's better than any super bowl halftime show in my opinion.
