two more Checkpoint motors

Post by V12 »

Got two interesting Checkpoint motors, the first one I was hunting for since long a time, a Checkpoint Igarashi modified.
The second one a very rare BoLink Checkpoint motor, but not the typical 05 motor. Did you ever hear of a 380 size modified motor?

Yes seems so. He sold his slot car stuff in 1978 and started making RC motors the same time. In 1979 the 1/12 4WD cars appeared, I think that´s when this 380 motor was made. I knew Jim was fiddling with those cars but didn´t know before such motors really were sold.

Can we see some pics of the armature?

Trinity's early Igarashi motors also had the crinkle finish.

Maybe later possible. All motors are packed away at the moment as being busy with other stuff currently.
But I was talking to the previous owner about this motor. It is a Checkpoint motor for sure, he never had a Trinity.
Regarding the crinkle finish, from what I know Jim was the first using this at RC motors. Also he was working for Trinity several times and from what he told me years ago, some of their motors had that crinkle because of this.

Sold trough BoLink but actually an early Checkpoint modular endbell for Igarashi motors. I like those slot racing gear used at RC motors. :D
BTW someone have BoLink Checkpoint Stage motors or BoLink catalog of 1978 to 1980 area?

Thanks. There had been at least 5 different versions of the Stage motors, do you know which one this was?
I think Stage IV and Stage V were using black painted cans so maybe this could be a Stage III.
