Great job on the painting - nice relatively simple scheme & vibrant choice of colours.

I've always had good results with ordinary masking tape - but it does have to be the better quality branded stuff. Liquid mask always guarantees that you don't get paint bleeds but it's much harder to get nice straight lines for the more geometric designs that have that more vintage look. Using tape does require a lot of patience making sure it sits 'relaxed' around the tight contours of the shell, it can be stretched in to these areas using a finger nail etc - but this is normally where it then pulls away when the wet paint hits it & starts to dry leaving an open area for paint to creep under when applying further coats. Gradual light applications of paint is also necessary to minimise the build up of wet paint against the tape

Yep, agreed. When I was at the paint shop (I go to Coast Airbrush in Anaheim), the neon purple just jumped out at me. I am not against purple, but it isnt my first choice. BUT...this color pops great. I should take my "good" camera and drop these out in the sunlight and take picture. These shots are just from my cell phone in the garage last night.

Didnt get any shots outside, but used the trusty ol' cell phone again for some mounted up pics. :)

Fresh wing & gear cover on it as well. I need to get the steering swapped out for the MIP parts and wire up the Tekin RS to the LRP X12 17.5 that is bolted in there. I have the JConcepts front Rips/rear DDs coming (for the ReC10) to mount up on stock Losi wheels. More pics after a fresh set of tires and the electronics are finished. I am going to pick up a set of the repro JRX2 stickers I see on eBay, they look like good quality, then I can sticker it up

Not bad looking.. 8) Nice rebuild.. The white wheels work well with that paint job but maybe a set of florescent yellow wheels in 2.2 size would really set it off.. Either way I think it has come out pretty nice.. Nice work!!

That looks great mounted up! 8)

With regard to the TBG shell - I mounted a MrLexan shell up on my new-build car & trimmed up the front to all the cut lines & found that it was a little short at the rear (the shocks rub inside on the bulges) - the slot cut out that picks up on the top of the rear shock tower in someway off from the marking out on the shell also..... putting the MrLexan shell along side the TBG one that I brought for my runner & appears even shorter still!!!!

How did you mount your shell & how did you find the fit? I think i'll start with my trimming of the TBG shell from the back.... I guess it doesn't matter so much if its short at the front.

In the meantime I've sacraficed my original un-painted NIP JRX2 shell in the name of finally getting some shells that fit correctly

I hit all the marks on the TBG shell and they were dead on. Dropped right on, just a touch of trimming around the front shock tower notches, I made them too narrow to begin with. Front/Rear coverage looks really good. I put the wing holes (in the body) too close and had to oval them out a bit, but they work just fine. I now remember on why I didnt use the Losi wing mounts when I replaced my wing BITD...there are horrid to line up/install. Even now, with much more patience than I had back in '87 it was a bit frustrating.

Tekin RS in :) just slapped the receiver in there for testing. I need to clean up the wires for the servo and set the receiver in correctly, then its off to the races...well, after I glue up some fresh tires :)

What motor have you gone for? The beauty of those Tekin speedos is that you can go with a relatively safe motor, but if you feel you need more speed you can just UP the timing/turbo 8)

LRP X12 17.5....it was barking the diff like a mo-fo last night too :)

I like them too, now that the GEN 2 are out, people are selling these at good prices :), I've gotten 2 for under $100 combined.
