Re: At last, a TopCat for Dan!
Yes its tantalisingly close - I reckon a good few hours work should have it all assembled! - I'm just awaiting a suitable quiet afternoon. I'm currently re-doing my workbench in the spare bedroom so it will have to wait until that is done at least! .... then of course the 'better half' wants the front room re-decorating
I'm not sure about the paint scheme - I do like the box-art but it seem that alot of TopCat owners have already re-created it! I was thinking about the red/white/blue design of the late Phil Davies;
But now i'm not so sure.... any suggestions would be appreciated - one thing for sure is that it needs to be a suitably vintage design!

Ah wow, I remember that article well - and the shell has a Reedy sticker on it Dan
He must of run a top-cat, maybe worth looking for a photo of it perhaps, either way a cool paint scheme...

Re: At last, a TopCat for Dan!
Yes it is a nice simple paint scheme - but effective & suitably 'vintage'
My first couple of years racing was at small club in a nearby village hall in Northants (where I would have raced my original T.C) & I can remember Phil Davies coming along to race on a few occasions - accompanied by Robin & a couple of the Schumacher R&D guys (who were regulars at the club)... so in some ways it seems apt that I do finish off the shell in Phil's colours
P.S; I would love to see scans of old TopCat Racers from race reports etc - especially team driver cars.

Hi Dan,
Please find attached a few examples of top UK drivers Top Cats. I have also included Phil Davies Cougar in case you want to use that.
I hope these are helpful.

Re: At last, a TopCat for Dan!
Wow - thank you Luke, those are some great shots showing some of the UK's top.. TopCats in action! It seems these top racers were less concerned with consistant paint schemes/colours - I really like the blue, yellow & green design of Phil Davies.... very different from his ProCat in the RRCi article but still quite striking!
The shot of Jamie Booth's car is very interesting with the upright shocks - designed to cure the characteristic front suspension collapse that can be seen occuring on Ben Sturnam's car.

The stray cat with the red front arms is that an import?

Re: At last, a TopCat for Dan!
This race was at Medway in the UK. for a while the track was a dirt track, eventually going concrete and astro.
Phil's car had a Garfield cat on the front, this was the onnly time he used these colours but he didn't always have the white, blue and red.
I suspect the RC10 is Craig's car.

Re: At last, a TopCat for Dan!
Quite embarrassing really - this hasn't progressed any further this last year I hope to perhaps this together over the Christmas break. I do need to re-visit the shocks as I now have a pair of 'natural' aluminum shocks to replace the plated rearsDennisM wrote:That chassis is bling wauw, Dan.
Any pictures of it put together?

Ah, but You´re still in the fast lane compared to others on this site
I take it the uncoted shocks are the oldest, did the coated ones arrive with the procat?
Thanks

Thanks Reggie - I know things don´t turn red by them selves, is it just dye or perhaps Hot Trick?Charlie don't surf wrote:RC10DennisM wrote:It´s so hard to tell that this race was held in the UK

Yes that's correct, it would appear the coated shocks arrived sometime during the ProCat release period as I've seen them with both types of shocks on them, but I think most if not all Mk1 Cougar/Road & Track/Nitro 10 models had the coated shocks.... until the release of the Varishock.

Jeopardy theme song playing......
Glad to be back in this hobby so many many years later. To see new things and to recollect on ALL cool vintage models!
