Just scored a TRX-1
Hey guys, While I got my Blue Eagle LS thread/project going, I just scored this TRX-1.
I'm pretty stoked about finding this one, Got it for a very fair price IMO. $75.00 shipped!
I had a TRX-1 back in the early 90's, beat the snot out of it, it sat in a box for years, I parted what was left of it out, blah blah blah. Been wanting another (project) one for years now.
I just made the deal today, while I was out X-Mas shopping with the wife.......
These pic's are from the seller (kinda poor quality) Yeah it's gonna need a overhaul.
Should be here sometime next week, Will update when it arrives.

Re: Just scored a TRX-1
For starters the normal tear down, clean-up. I know it needs a driveshaft for sure, which I have. I'll have to wait and see what all it's gonna take to get her up and rollin, Would like to bring her back to stock life as much as possible.BMKTW2 wrote:Looks sweet! Whats the plans for this one?
As usual I have many projects going on, I guess just because I can't pass up a good deal when it comes along.
I would like to have/keep atleast one vintage Traxxas runner in my collection, instead of a shelfer. Just seems like alot of times I'll do a slight or complete resto, and either end up selling or shelfing
Either way keeps me entertained forsure.

Re: Just scored a TRX-1
There have been a couple on eBay lately that went for reasonable prices.
I had this in my watch list and if I would not have been building the one in my thread, I would have been going after this one. It has all the hard stuff to find.
It looks to be in pretty good shape and I look forward to the pictures of the car when you get it. Good luck with the build.

Re: Just scored a TRX-1
Got the TRX1 about 2 weeks ago, She's a little bit rough around the edges, Tires are dry rotted and the rear wheels are chipped/cracked, which kinda sucks, as I wanted to keep the stock fronts-rears, which are pretty much impossible to find. But it is what it is. Body has a few cracks, that I can/will reinforce.
I'm happy with it, and all in all it isnt that bad, it definitely will need a complete tear down and cleaning thats forsure. Looks like previous owner had cut/shaved the rear tower, as you can tell in the pics, the upper shocks are mounted to where the wing wire should go, and there is only one actual shock mount hole. But I got lucky and found a NOS 4707 rear tower.
Also scored (on its way) another "used" body and it has a stylin 90's paint scheme But was run on a Losi at the time and has a T-L painted on the top side, still a cool find, that the paint can be changed. Picked up some A&L wing wire mounts from a member here too.
So picking up a few things here and there for it, As for wheels I guess I might just go with the Traxxas 1774,1775's Unless you guys have a better suggestion that would resemble the original wheels?
This will prob sit on the back burner for now, untill I get my Blue Eagle LS back together.
But heres a few pic's as it sits right now.

Re: Just scored a TRX-1
I'm liking that TL body paint scheme...screamin at me to go put on my 'cinderella' concert t and holy acid washed tapered leg jeans .
That TL would disappear with the right sticker over it. Buggy looks to be in decent enuf shape with a few pieces here and there that are still around.
Your wheels don't look that bad. Maybe taking the tire off and 'sanding' them would clean them up enuf to get rid of the chips since they don't look too deep. I've done that with some rc10 wheels with decent luck.

Re: Just scored a TRX-1
Oh yeah gotta love those sick 90's colors huh.....
Just got the body here today, and it's in great shape, just one little 1/4" crack near the left front tower area. The front body mount whole isnt even cut out. I'm gonna try and keep the paint scheme intact and just redo the white in hopes of removing the "TL" IDK we'll see how the results come out.
As far as the rear wheels go, they are chipped pretty good around the beads, also some hairline cracks at and around the center holes. The fronts on the other hand are pretty decent and just need a good cleaning, Hell I could prob sell the fronts as I'm sure there is someone in need of them......
Will be sometime I'm sure before I get into tearin this thing down.
