My RC10T Runner

Post by mdutcher »

I recently acquired 2 RC10T's (thanks to GoldRush and another fellow RC enthusiast). I will make one a runner and the other a back-up that will be made into a backyard truck to play with the kids.

I have taken some of the better spare parts and such and put them into my runner along with some blue bling that I added. I have added some electronics (Hobbywing ESC with LRP 10.5T) and new rubber. I think that I am ready to race it now.

However, I do have some questions as i do want to change a couple of things out. Particularly the turnbuckles. I want to upgrade them to something a little stronger as I feel that my current stock ones might not last within a runner setup. I have tried doing a search for some vintage titanium ones, but with no success. What sizes should I look for? I can buy some FT blue ones as they come in many different sizes.

Also, I have a couple of vintage bodies now, but would really like to find a new clear vintage one that can be painted up. Where might I look for such a vintage body? What about modern bodies? Will those work on the vintage setups?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Enjoy the pictures though. I am excited with how it turned out! :D

Very nice! 8) Can't wait to restore mine.

You can get the reproduction RC10T body from TBG on e-Bay. I have one for my restore project. It's a beauty.

You will need a reproduction sticker sheet too.

Based on the pictures of my truck, how would one know if it is a 7011 or 7035 model? Or something else?

Thanks!

You can go a couple of routes with modern titanium turnbuckles. I did my old is new 10T build with Associated #1408 FT 2.65" turnbuckles all the way around. Now these are about 2mm too long so did cut mine down to 2.62" which is the original length used on the 10T. You could also go with Lundsford's for which you can use the #1074 which are 2 5/8" and fit better without any cutting down.

Yes, thanks for the input on the turnbuckles. If you will recall, I did a similar inquiry on your thread a while back. I took your advice and my truck now has FT turnbuckles throughout. Thanks!

However, would you happen to know what model my truck is? 7011 or 7035 or something else? Thanks.

It looks really good. Also it looks more like a #7035 team truck. Does it have bearings and rear universals? The 7035 came with universals swing shafts instead of dog bones as well as bearings with the hard anodized shocks. The 7011 kit had gold shocks, all bushings with dog bones. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

all that info's right. The 7035 had a graphite trans brace as well. That truck may be a 7001, which had the hard anno shocks and dogbones with a plain nylon trans brace.
