Wow. Unacceptable. Should be fired on the spot.

I work in an industry where time-critical friagile, unreplacable shipments are made by fedex on a regular basis. This is absolutely sickening. This a-hole, and any others like him, should be walked out the building first thing in the morning. If they could sue him personally for insurance damage claims on any of the items he handled on camera there, I would also be all for it.

What a scumbag.

I package things with the expectation that they may be dropped or even stepped on, but there is a huge difference between accidental and what we see here. That goes beyond laziness or carelessness; it is downright malevolence.

Having said that, all of these carriers have detailed tracking, and know who was working which trucks or docks when a given package was loaded or unloaded. I'm sure if they received several claims for damage of items that passed through a common point, someone is getting reprimanded.

littleVETTE wrote:honestly that's nothing. you should see the way UPS handles the packages before being loaded into the trucks. from what i understand is that they have a certain amount of time to move certain packages, and what they're getting paid hourly is a joke. hence the 'i don't f@&k attitude" of everyone's packages.
The drivers at ups are paid well the grunt loading the truck is paid just above minimum wage. I have heard all kind of horror stories from my friends who have worked there.

I don't understand people like this, if you hate your job so much then go somewhere else and let somebody who really wants a job and wants to work have the job.

It's the American way. Get paid as much as possible while doing as little as possible. People like that need to be fired with no option of unemployment or welfare. See how many people still act like that if the government quit coddling the losers who abuse the system.

Along the lines of what romulus22 said...and it's not just FedEx, the same bad attitude pervades the workforce in every field of work, not just shipping. And then we wonder why outsourcing is taking away our business. It's all indirectly related.

Unfortunately, a lot of managers doing the outsourcing are the kind of moron showcased in the movie after they've somehow moved up through the ranks. So they choose the 'cheapest' option, which due to bad planning ends up costing a lot more, blame others, leave with a big fat paycheck and go do the same kind of crap elsewhere.

And get away with it.

See the banking world and politics for nice examples where this kind of behaviour seems to be totally pervasive.

In NJ, if you are fired for cause (not a layoff or just a reduction in workforce, but fired for something like this) you can not collect unemployment. One of the FEW things that NJ has done right. :)
