i glass beaded and painted the original 15x5 wheels. i did them satin black instead of body color, figuring i'd run them bare. but, they are pitted pretty bad so now i guess i'm gonna run hub caps. i have the original hub caps from my car, but i'm hoping to find a decent set of 57 caddy (maybe 58) hub caps that fit the condition of my car. but who knows, i may find a different set of wheels to run, too.

Hit them with some filler primer and then wet sand. Keep priming until you fill in the pits or throw a little blue putty on them. The spray can stuff really does work. A little elbow grease could save you some money for other parts. Man I would love to help out on this project!

i've had to restore more than enough sets of wheels (including spares for the trunk), and i hate doing them when i'm getting PAID to do it.

for what i want out of the car right now, the rest of the car doesn't warrant that level of wheel restoration. plus, i don't think it'll be too long before it's rolling on 17's or 18's. no sense in running big disc brakes (4 wheel disc at that) and covering them up with little steelies

are you sure? the caliper is supposed to clear the stock 15" wheel. they're dished enough in the back so i don't see an issue........ or are you talking about the hub area actually slipping over the rotor?

my dad's 55 is running discs on his straight axle with stock 55 wheels too, now that i think of it.

hmmm...I could be wrong. I thought there was some clearance issue with disc on the 15's due to maybe the offset of the dish. It has been a while, and maybe the newer brake kits avoid the problem?

Well, we're gonna find out.

It won't hurt my feeling if they don't work with the big brake/drop spindle setup I plan on getting. It'll only hurt the wallet.

I was gonna leave the wheels for my 55 satin black. But one of the perks to knowing someone that owns his own paint company is free paint. Soooo......
