This little project of mine isnt quite finished yet but its taking shape nicely.I found one of my transmission cases has a Thorp ball diff too.I plan to run the battery long ways inside the chassis and already have a Lazer ZXR steering kit in the front end. I hope you guys like it.
Wow, this looks fantastic. I love the way the rollcage works here. Mounting the battery longways really makes a big difference in looks and performance.
Its taken me longer than I would have liked to get this far. Ive bought spares at different times in hopes of getting something like this together. Its not very standard thats for sure. The front arms are 'ANDY's' wide arms, the front axles are Tamiya, the front shock tower is a shortened Ultima truck tower,Option house short gold shocks up front and mediums at the rear,Lazer ZXR steering set up,Wild One front rims,Proline rears,Thorp ball diff, hardened final gear, fully ballraced, custom rear tower,Option House slipped clutch gear cover,0.6 module spur and so on.I purchased the roll cage NIB off this site (cant remember who from now though) and my mate Antony made me the shell.I still have some custom billet rims to go on and eventually a custom graphite top plate.I also like the fan mouted inside the rear of the roll cage to keep the motor heat sink cooler.
Very nice looking Ultima! I like the way the motor fan is mounted, looks scale! I also like the way you squeezed the esc between the shock tower and the fan, obviously to clear space for the battery. Interesting shock towers, are they home made?
I considered mounting the battery lengthwise on my Ultima once, but decided against it since it would be too much hassle changing battery packs, I'd really like to know how you solved it, any chance for a chassis pic?
ive seen the guy in melb on tamiya club that does the repos he has a few molds of bodies im after but form what ive read hes not selling any at the moment
Thanks for the kind words guys. The front tower is that of an Ultima Truck-(they are 4 sale on ebay with a cheap BIN)-I cut it down and shaped the top on my bench grinder. The rear tower is custom made by my mate Antony in Melbourne. Ant does the body repro too. He sells all kinds of repro's from time to time. LMK what you are after and I'll call him to see if he's pulling any molds.
As for the fan,I really like the idea of the unit mounted above the motor myself. Its not the best paint scheme but it will do me for now.
