Capo 8x8 military truck

Post by flipwils11 »

I messaged with SFC K (Jeff) about this but I had to share because I'm so fascinated with it. Rumor is its $2500 and limited to 100 kits. And when they say its all metal, they mean it!

And no, I'm not getting one, that is a lot of scratch! Here is the link through google translater.

It is a very cool build and truck. That is Aaron's own truck (DJMedic). I think the drivers side door has the RCSparks logo that Capo put on it from the factory for him.

He lives here in Calgary, I have chatted with him a few times at the LHS. I have not been able to see the truck up close yet though.

I am not sure I would pull the trigger and spend that much on one RC, it would be very cool to have though.

Did you see the pics of the axles? Very nice detail and craftsmanship. So why does stuff made in China and sold in the US snap if you look at wrong?

Man that thing looks so freakin sweet. I'd love too have one, but the price tag is wayyy out of my budget.

In one of his build videos he mentions the amount of single screws they package with the truck.

Over 1000 screws if I remember correctly. Pricey for sure, but what a build. I would love it!

Very cool!

If it were an M35A2, I'd seriously consider selling one of my 1:1 scale cars to fund it. Would look awesome parked next to my actual 1966 Kaiser deuce.

Wow, that 8x8 is impressive!
That would be a great project to work on if only it didn't cost so much.

I'm sure the manufacturer is already being asked if it comes in a RTR version.

They are only going to build about 100 units of these...

 So true.

The ONLY thing that I don't know what I think about (as long as we're musing about it since I don't have $2500 to drop on it) are the brass gears. Aaron comments on it too in one of the videos. I guess if you're going to drive it a few times and then mostly shelve it hopefully they would hold out, but it can't be a lightweight rig and how horrible would it be to sheer some teeth off and have to disassemble that thing.

One detail I really like is the miniature V8 diesel engine and housing that holds the servos and motor. That is some trick stuff and I agree with other posters, I keep asking myself, is this really made in China? One thing maybe I missed though, where's the ESC?

If you search on youtube for capo 8x8 there are some running videos of this thing by the Chinese company. I like the one of it driving with the 4x4 truck on the back.

I love kits like this, super detailed, all metal builds, there a few kits I would love to have in the German artillery chapter of WW2, but starting prices for basic kit are around $1500-$2000, as you add the options the price goes up.
Very nice kit flipwils11, thanks for posting!!

shouldn't be a problem with brass gears. Brass is pretty strong and is used in many gear trains.

I have a plastic tank that shoots airsoft pellets, I can only imagine an all metal tank, hah.
