What Yokomo do I have here?

Post by Vintagemishal »

I picked this up in a lot today off of Craigslist along with a RC10 with a MIP 4wd Conversion. I believe it to be newer YZ-10, but am unsure of the exact model. Any help is greatly appreciated!

wow that's a nice find

it's whats called a pavidis yz10 that has some later 97 parts on it (front shock tower for longer shocks and the 2 peice top deck) these parts were used towards the end of the yz10 life just prior to the mx4 being released, the only part missing form those 97 parts is the higher rear shock tower for longer rear shocks.

It was on Portland Craigslist. I called at 6:30 this morning, but I did not get the stuff until 4pm today. It was a score all right. Guess I am lucky with all of the competition on here! I thought it might be a Pavidis, nice. I hate to brag, but I got this, the RC10 MIP 4wd, a RC10 DS, 2 RC10 B3's, a Losi XX, a Losi Rally Weapon, tons of parts, and 2 radios for $50.00!!!! That was the asking price and I was happy to pay it. The Craigslist ad simply said RC Parts. Thanks for the info guys!

That was the ad! That was only a small part of what was in the tote though.

Very nice score!

I wonder about the story behind this, how it could all sell for only $50.

Well, the story is: Craigslist ad says "RC Parts". The guy calls me and says I can come pick up all of this stuff for $50. When I got there, there is this large tote full of RC gear. The guy tells me that a friend of his gave him all of this stuff years ago and he never even really looked at it. He is not into RC cars and just wanted to get rid of it all. I found items in the tote that makes me believe that it once belonged to someone named Thomas Hightower that may have raced at the 1996 Worlds. It was obvious that this stuff has been sitting for years as everything is coated in dirt and debris. I have found many good RC deals on Craigslist, and this just might be the best one yet!

Guess that's just the way of the world eh...some of us spend ages sourcing bits to make the nicest cars but the odd person makes the lucky find that sweeps us away! That's an incredible score. The yz10 looks like he updated one (96/97) with the top deck and almost stock - a rare find! Well done! I can't help feeling a little envious which is uncomfortable to admit since I put a lot of effort in my builds.

Some pics of the rc10 mip would be nice...
