that's what web forums are for...to vent your fustrations on what a company is doing when they are so limited on the info to the public...speculation is gonna be rampant positive or negative.
do you think its a bad twilight zone episode for team associated to be re producing a buggy from yesteryear that is capable of beating their latest and greatest production buggy?

Ok, so I haven't posted on this since the first page- and I've been trying to stay away from it. But since this has taken so much attention I might as well add my .02-

Rod is correct, and if he's not....then the people steering the business are DWI. Listen, "rarity" "limited production" this is a new release, give me a break. Take the blinders off and see it for what it is, a very neat chance to open up a gold tub short arm car and build it. If anyone thinks that this is going to be a "rare" piece, I suggest you see your doctor about changing your prescription toward reality.

Anyone know what happened to the Hotwheels market for vintage pieces both NIP and OOP? As soon as HW realized the secondary market was there they flooded it with new releases, then when legitimate factory goofs became "rare" then they started goofing on purpose so guys would buy all or multiples of all cars. Then they Re-Re'ed and now cars that would fetch 30-200 fetch one tenth of that if your lucky. However, the gold at the end of the rainbow is that lots of guys got to play with a Re-Re of their favorite car from childhood! But, they were mostly manipulated by the manufacturer that marketed a rush demand for "limited" releases, which means limited to however many they can sell.

I don't specifically care about the Re-Re RC10, nor have I ordered one...believe it or not, I have enough RC10's. I think it's awesome that guys that don't have enough of them are able to get one so reasonably, and support parts to boot! The idea of a vintage series racing venue with old tires in modern compounds is wicked cool. I really hope it takes off.

Don't buy into the hype. If your a member here and a genuine vintage enthusiast, you should have learned patience by restoring cars by now, and have a little common sense to boot.

damn straight :)

on another (computer) forum im on, there is a RC thread, and a few guys are saying "oh wow, soooo getting the new rc10, always wanted one!)

if they actually, genuinely wanted one, there has been 20 years now to get one. all the Re-Re does is make it available for the lazy ;)

Poor form from AE if this is the case, telling "lies" to boost sales :x

And the quote above about the re-re being for the lazy may be a fair way off the mark too IMHO
You name it - and I want it ;)

ok, granted. but like I said, if you were keen and wanted one, there were plenty of them, and had many years to do it.

All they will achieve with any 'limited number' marketing is stackign a load of orders at the front of its life cycle. Once people have one or two they will only want parts for spares going forward. Those that stumble across it months or years after re-release will buy the odd one or two but not huge numbers of sales.

If it helps AE achieve a volume of sales that justifies a size of production run that makes the kit financially palatable for the company, retailers and customers then so be it. I have two pre-orders, the only reason for the second was the thought of it being limited and perhaps being something that I could keep and if I later decided to sell I wouldn't lose much money on it. IF AE say its no longer limited to 2000/2500 units, or only the first 2000 will have limited on the box and another 3000 will follow then I won't complete on the second, purely on the basis that if I wanted a second one I could probably get one at a later date. They'd still get two sales from me, but perhaps spread across a 12 month period.

Interestingly MBModels int he UK still state they have 35 units allocated to them, and their stock level is now 5 (was down to 3 a week ago). This may be because initially they were th cheapest price, but soon revised theri price upwards to a level where they are no longer the cheapest, albeit competitive.

Tamiya release items with 84xxx serial numbers to state they are limited but you never know the numbers, and whether they will sell in a month or ten years. There was a rush for the rere hicap dampers, to the extent no retailer has the shorter front units for sale less than a year on. There are threads stating the M-05 Golf Rallye is no longer available (perhaps just TamiyaUSA website nomenclature driving those comments ?) and that's only been on sale for 3 months.

In this day and age it wouldn't make business sense for AE to have ex amount made, if 50% sat on shop shelves and didn't sell for two years. Keeping the quantity down and having only 10% or less sat on the shelves after say 90 days is a lot more practical for both AE and shops. Firstly I guess AE are been sensible with a limited run as its a way of testing the water, also if it is a success then their is nothing to stop AE doing another batch if the demand is there. Has AE said the model is a limited edition or a limited run, they are two different things. If its a limited edition, then they could rerun the model without say a sticker on the box or whatever to separate it from being the same, if its a limited run, then their is nothing to stop them doing the same model again.

At the end of the day we have heard no definite answer on how many will be in the first production, we get hear say that they will be impossible to get one if you haven't ordered, but all in all nobody really knows. For all you know if sales are as good as people are warranting then AE could be adjusting quantity's as we speak, who knows!

I still think AE are doing the right thing, get the sales and if its the success everyone thinks it is, then they can follow with more or different models sooner rather than later. My only downfall on it been a success is the ebay merchants making huge profits out of us :x

I completely agree....the hysteria feeds the panic and vice versa. Calm down. Everyone will get what they ordered. I assure you AE/TT did not go to the necessary lengths required to make this happen just to limit its profitability on a famous car they KNOW will make a ton of money by only making 2,000 or 2,500. That's ridiculous. There's more than 2,500 people in most TOWNS let alone cities, states, provinces and countries and they have to produce enough for multiple countries all over the world!

People talking about limited numbers so AE can test the market like they're going into this whole thing blind...another big  If TT expects to become the 4th largest r/c manufacturer in the world (their stated objective) with the acquistion of AE and if their execs have any business sense whatsoever they did their market research looong before production started, gauranteed. The fact that they went into production tells you they've come to the conclusion that they can sell a lot of them...duh! We could've told them that a long time ago...oh wait, some of us already did so a big thank you to them! :D

I ordered ONE out of general curiosity and long-time nostalgia having been a teenager when the originals were all the rage. Unlike some who've bit on the "limited" re-re announcement hook, line and sinker and panic-ordered ten (more power to you, btw :) ), I have not fallen for the hype and will not be purchasing a second. On the contrary, I've been struggling with the idea of a re-re vs an original and have been keeping my eye on what used originals are going for because I might cancel my re-re and go that route instead.

My guess is they make enough to fill all the pre orders plus a few extra. Enough to fill demand plus a few to trickle out in the coming years.

However, the first batch might only be 2500 pieces, but I doubt it's limited to only 2500 pieces. It would be nice though if the early kits were marked in some way to tell them apart.

its all sales bs.. if they said they will release the team car for the same price in a few months it would kill sales on the 6 gear car..

What Electronics For Your Re-Re?

Post by joeman37 »

I am torn between going with some vintage stuff I have laying around (Novak T-4 and some brushed stock motors from BITD) or something like a cheap Hobbywing brushless ESC and motor. I won't be bashing it and I won't be racing it, it will just go to practice days at the track for fun and some light running. What are you guys going to go with for your re-releases?

Going full lipo/brushless, high speed servo, probably a 17.5 or 13.5, maybe a 10.5 if I feel froggy. My biggest gotcha or gimmie is the stock wheels/tires. I know I will update/upgrade it with current 2.2s unless I find a true old school soil track I can throw some roost on.
