I started a post like this on another forum, called "love your postman";

http://rc-racing.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=4013

It's an addictive thread, but weird how interesting it is to see what everyone else is buying! Lol!
Do, or do not! There is no 'try'!

Not today but about 2 weeks ago from Dave00beer. I had been looking for a while none I saw were this nice. It was the first Rc I owned when I was very small, but never ran it due to whatever i don't know. Mine though had the gold anodized shock towers so I'll be on the hunt for those. Unless there is a reason I should keep these black ones on. And maybe a new body with the paint job done by some one that has skill to do it well. I don't.

I'm collecting spares for my worlds car.... Today I received the first batch of decals to recreate the box art (long ways to go still) and some nip proline 8015's for the front

I recieved this LWB Mardave Meteor in the post this week;

Image

I brought it purely to get my hands on the Lexan LWB shell that i'm hoping to get replicated for another Meteor that i'm bulding up into an 'ultimate' spec car using a new built car as a base to build from....... as usual such purchases change the plan somewhat! I now think I can keep the new built car just as that.. complete with its nicely painted box-art bodyshell, this new car will be used as the basis for my 'utlimate' modified Meteor :D

It came with a few nice extras, including a Demon Power modified motor & a Speedmaster Silverstar ESC - both UK manufactured electrical items that were so popular when I started racing 8) The gearbox & rear axles are ballraced - including the rare red spur gear - I already have the front wheels with the recesses to accept ball races, so I can achieve a fully ballraced car.

It also came with the earlier style non-plated Schumacher shocks - so the rears will hopefully clean up nicely for my TopCat build.

Got a nice RC10B4.2 that has been barely used, and a custom painted body for it.

Turns out it was filled with styrofoam peanuts and this:

I never even knew these conversions existed and had to have it. It uses 10L front suspension and RC10 rear suspension. Stay tuned for a build thread...

The LWB chassis was available from Mardave as an option part, later versions of this chassis had a narrowed front to enable the fitment of longer suspension arms (as fitted to my car) The standard shell, like all other Mardave cars at the time came supplied with a white ABS bodyshell but there was a 'lightweight' Lexan option for the standard chassis & there was a specific Lexan shell to suit the LWB chassis.... the latter very illusive item being the reason for purchasing this car.

The Demon motor appears to be in very good condition so it will probably be used for the Meteor build as its very typical of the kind of motor a club racer with a Meteor would have run. I was suprised to see that the motor end-bell had 'Demon' moulded into it, so unlike many motor tuners like Reedy (who used Yokomo motors), it appears Demon were using their own unique motors?
