Looks like tower has them backordered and expects them in stock around August? Not terrible, I've waited longer for ar15 parts and ammo..... :D

Funny! I celebrated with Van Halen's "1984" when I heard the news of this re-re. Seems like all my Xmas's have come at once with this kit and the re-re of the Fox. Just need MIP to re-re their 4x4 RC10 kit to round things off....
Need to throw in some Dire Straits "Money For Nothin" and Aerosmith "Janie's got a Gun"
You name it - and I want it ;)

I'm curious. Why did you choose the Impact over the GTB2?
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

I'm so used to running the Tekin that I really liked the footprint of the impact, thats about it. Now looking back, it doesn't seem to justify the $50.00 difference in price huh?

I'm surprised to see soooo many people talking about their plans to fit a brushless set-up. I never had one of these back in the day and have only recently, in the last few years, discovered the joy of the RC10. My excitement on hearing about the re-re is that I'll be able to run a new build. But, my immediate view was that I would run a traditional brushed set-up, because I want to feel the fun of the car as it was originally intended. I'm not looking for ballistic speeds, albeit I will fit a decent last edition Checkpoint motor. I know the pro's and con's for both types of motor but feel that I'll have more fun with the handling and running characteristics of a brushed set-up. 8)

Are many others planning on running them with electronics that are more period typical? :?:

Many brushless esc's will run brushed motors. Why not just get one of those and that way if you decide to run a brushless, you are good to go?

Like many people: I'm lucky to have plenty of options for electrics, both brushed and brushless. I guess I'm saying that I want the performance and feel of the old school ESC and motors, and that the under-performance of these, at least when pitted against the modern brushless solutions, is more in keeping with the originality of the design.

I had an original RC10 that was handed down to me - not sure which version - but it was bought around '87 or '88 by my brother-in-law. It was raced at club level for a couple of years and then remained unused. I sold it on eBay a few years back, it had a red mirage(?) body decked out with Coca-Cola decals and white JC Racing wheels along with the original box. Wish I hadn't sold it but that's hindsight for you!

I wonder if anyone on here bought it and can claim current ownership? It would have to someone in the UK as that's where I'm based.

So, here's the problem. I very nearly bought one of the Limited Edition's today but backed out at the check-out stage where I had to submit my card details. The thing is, do I or don't I??? If I do end up with one, the temptation is to put it away and save it for a 'rainy day'. This is tough.....help....!

What do I do?

Ok, fair enough. But from what I understand, they are designing the new one with brushless and lipo in mind. I guess if I were looking for the full effect, I would build an old one. At least then you will get a better concept of what we went through bitd when you strip an idler gear, :)

That's a fair point. Simply dial down the power curves. I've ordered two kits, so maybe I should have one old school set-up and one modern set-up. I know I'm lucky to have the choice.
