What shock is this?

Post by fredswain »

I am helping a friend rebuild his RC10. He has long shocks up front and they look like RC10 shocks at first but the tops are different. This one doesn't have the flat areas that you can get a wrench on. I've never seen these before. The shock in question is the one on the right. It has an RPM mount on it. What is it from?

The one on the right is either a Kyosho Gold or a Duratrax Competition. Remove the bottom clip and count the o-rings. 2 for Kyosho 1 for Duratrax.

I haven't pulled the o-rings out yet but they are smaller in diameter than the shock on the left.

That is very helpful, thanks. I don't even need to pull them apart now. I can tell from the slop in the shaft play that there is no way that there is 2 o-rings in there. The bottoms are flat too which tells me these have to be Duratrax. Too bad. He always complained about them leaking so I think I'll encourage him to find some Associated shocks instead. Thanks Phin.

BTW: Got the SP-1 and left you good feedback.
