lol, i never even used a shorty until last week.
i'm used to running mod, and planned to with this car until i found out everyone at the track seemed to be running 17.5.
the 5300's i usually use definetly seemed to heavy for 17.5.

I use a shorty in everything, JRX2, RC10 CE, SC10, B4, 22, V2MR, even my 4wd short course, AE Prolite. I cant wait until my "full" stick packs are worn out so I can get more shorty packs.

Re: Modern Car - Atomik V2MR
I attempted to race last night but tire the t-plate/rear arm mount off in practice.
Came back tonight for a trophy race and to bum parts off the sponsored guy.
2 qualifiers in at the moment, 2 4th place finishes out of 10.
Not too bad, pretty happy with it.
I did bugger up one metric front axel, cross threaded it, DOH!
So that wheel is staying on for the rest of the night. Lol

I know where there are 2 metric axles and matching wheels not being used
I ground my battery strap to line up the holes...a lot
Good luck out there, get 'er done!

Re: Modern Car - Atomik V2MR
fun night. lots of laughs.
dropped back in the third heat, ended up qualifiying 6th. almost had a 4th in the main but a major pile up near the end of the race bumped me back to 6th.
i'm really happy with the car though. i'll be right there in another week or so.
right now the car seems almost perfect, just a little bouncy.

Joey, out of curiosity, do you tend to end up with them blocked all the way foward in buggies, or mounted more centered relative to where the stick was?JK Racing wrote:I use a shorty in everything, JRX2, RC10 CE, SC10, B4, 22, V2MR, even my 4wd short course, AE Prolite. Re: Modern Car - Atomik V2MR
22 all the way back
B4, RC10 & JRX2, all the way forward
Atomik, havent tried the shorty more than the partial pack I ran @ OCRC, it was forward then. I will try all the way back next time I get to a track.

i'm ditching the metric, i was only using them because i was in a jam the first night.JK Racing wrote:I know where there are 2 metric axles and matching wheels not being used

going back to b4 wheels, that way i can use my back up car (original ftb4) if i need to.
i'm racing again friday night indoors and outdoor on sunday (wife just told me "you can go racing sunday, your son and i will be out all day", gee thanks honey)
no idea what the go to tires are on the outdoor track, some guys are using holeshots, so i'll make sure to bring my green double dees, groovy's, rounders, some calibers just incase. it's gonne be a fun weekend and a good test for the durability of the atomik. right now i'm stiking with 17.5, i'm having alot of fun in that class and the racing is close and clean, love it!

Re: Modern Car - Atomik V2MR
I'm going to attempt to race Saturday night...attempt. I need to catch a plane @ 5 am sunday morning to fly from CA to Orlando for work. That may change my decision to run that night.
Right now things arent looking good (on top of the flight issue), the wifey's 1:1 hot rod is at the dealer...and I am a bit ticked off. 62K miles, $540 worth of repairs, I have to leave work 2 hours early to pick it up...wasnt fixed...now they are talking the main brain for the entire car may need replacing. We barely drive the car (its almost 8 years old), just kids to school and back. Been on top of maintenance like a pack of dogs on a 3 legged cat.
Sorry, rant over, back to the Atomik car now

Re: Modern Car - Atomik V2MR
well i ditched the stock steering blocks and the stock 3/16 axels. cross thread city, and i don't cross thread.
i swapped in the steering blocks from my b4. at least there's decent axels on the car now that are long enough.
i do like the way this car drives, but i'm starting to regret not just getting a new b4. lots of quality issues with the atomik.
it's funny because i refreshed the b4 last night (back up car) only to have to tear into it to get the atomik going. lol

Reggie - 2006 Dodge Magnum 3.5 SXT
I saw Raul's write up, I want to make the car work without putting a bunch of other cars stuff on there. My exception may be AE knuckles & different springs. On the bench, my car feels perfect. Cant wait to get it onto the track.
