Re: Ford Probe
Having worked on Mazda's for 15+ years I sure do miss those days. As mentioned the Probe was a 626-MX6 with Ford sheet metal. The 2.2L was virtually indestuctible. Easy to work on-tbelt was a quick one. Not many of either left in New England. Road salt/de-icer does a number on metal!

Re: Ford Probe
Inaccurate story, Halgar doesn't drive Fords, though he has been abducted and probed.klavy69 wrote:kinda along the same lines...Halgar was driving his ford one night when he got abducted by aliens and then got probed...does that count?![]()

Re: Ford Probe
Back in college (auto tech ), I had a 626. Did a parking lot tune up on it and it was running really rough and crappy. I went through everything I did several times, and my work was fine, but couldn't figure out the problem, so I drove back to the college shop to talk to an instructor, it was 7pm but I knew there was a shop night class going.Mazdaj wrote:Having worked on Mazda's for 15+ years I sure do miss those days. Turns out it was carbon tracking in the distributor cap. What does this have to do with Fords, you ask? Well, there was a Courier in the shop that one of my classmates was working on during the day shift. Since the parts house was closed, the instructor swapped caps with my car and the Courier and said, "let's see how long it takes this guy to figure it out." We had a good chuckle over it because the guy in question was pretty much an idiot.
That is when I learned that Ford doesn't build cars, they steal them from Mazda.
