Ball bearing A Arms...
I was disassembling a RC10 based sprint car purchase today and I found something I wasn't expecting. I presume it's because I'm a newbie on some of this vintage stuff, but I thought I'd ask the question. Were A Arms with ball bearings a common thing in early RC10 age? These arms, front and back, have bearings inboard and outboard hinge pin locations. Let me know what I got. I'll try to post a pic later.

they were made by quarter flash. just another one of those expensive hop ups back in the day that provided no real benefit.

That's over engineering to the max! I remember seeing them in the mags and thinking "who would spend that much..."

Surprised me. I've never seen them. One thing, there's a little rust on the e-clips, but the arms are smooth as silk.

While I was trying to find my picture of the ones I had years ago, you seem to have gotten the responses you need.
No matter, I found it, so here's what they looked like new...

Hmmmm. Mine look more solid and they're black. I'll get a pic up after I leave "Pint n Slice". Nice place to be on a cool evening.

OK... got this photo thing figured out. So what are these, the Quick Flask truck arms dyed?

Pint n Slice in Angola, Indiana is a great eat. They're located right on the town square ("The Mound"). They also have these 100 oz pitchers that look like a 3' tall clear tube with a tap on the bottom. It was unusual because the beer was still green from Saint Pat's day...

yes, they are the buggy arms that have been dyed. i would pull the bearings and re-dye them black, it will make them look great

Re: Ball bearing A Arms...
I'm not that nuts on them so I'll probably sell them. One arm is missing two bearings, so I have 14 bearings total. I guess I should consider them as they sound like they are unique...

Re: Ball bearing A Arms...
I used those back in the day. I liked them because you knew for sure if you bent a hinge pin (Was way more common than most knew), and also because there was no tinkering to make them free on the hinge pins. Just straight out of the package and onto the car, no tinkering. A lot of guys I raced with used them.
I do remember the expense.... But I also remember that expense was merely a bump in the road when you were serious about racing RC Cars. You always thought, damn those are expensive before you bought something, then right after you bought it, that all went away.
