Two cars with a story and pics...

Post by Orange »

I don't know if this has been brought up or tried before, I couldn't find anything on it, so i thought I would share... Its kinda a long story, sorry.

Its a tale of 2 totally different cars that have something in common...

My RC10 racer:

And a what the hell?? a Jammin CRT .5??
Image

Lets look closer. The wheels look alike...

Image

Oh damn... it has hex's ...
Image
and this doesn't...
Image

Well, lets look closer anyway...
Image
Now that looks familiar...
Image
Lets try it over here... IT FITS and with no slop at all...
Image

Lets put the wheel on now.... It fits too!
Image
Lets see if the B3 wheel fits on the CRT .5, Tadaaa!
Image

Whats this? A JConcepts SC10 wheel adapter hex? Interesting...
Image
Lets take all this other stuff off...
Image
That fits too and its way cooler!

Now the final test: SCHWIIING!

Tadaaa!

Anyway, its another option of a 2.2 wheel out there. They come in a package of 4 in Yellow or white. I was browsing through stuff last night when I pulled this car out thinking back to when I got it that it came with a set of B3 wheels. then I also remembered having a conversation with Jay about it and him telling me that B3 wheels fit without the hex and that is what they tested the car with before production. This was back when we still owned SRS and Jay thought it would be a perfect little gas truck for our track. The wheels with the hex inside them are pretty close, if not exactly the same offset as a proline b3 featherlite wheel. The Yellow wheel is # OFN40849 and the white wheel is # OFN40867

Anyway, sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere, I just thought I would share if it hasn't. :)

That's so 5 years ago...

 sorry, I had to give you a hard time. :P

Jkracing did a write up of those wheels awhile back using the hpi adapters for the 1/4" axles. Good to bring it back up though.

good stuff sean. totally forgot about that one. i talked to jay nearly three years ago at ocrc and he told me the same thing about the wheels. i also believe a certain set of kyosho wheels fit too. those blue hex adapters look very cool on your 10.

The K car wheels are UM414. Of course I know NONE of you wants to put Kyosho parts on your RC10 though.

these are a possibility that was brought up awhile back, too. don't recall anyone trying them yet though.

If only there were more front wheel options.

I knew it was probably discussed. I had to try. It's nice to see reminders though. If you look through all the "modernizing" threads there is no mention of these. At least I didn't see any.

As far as fronts go, well in many cases history repeats itself. Something will come along eventually. Probably right about the time that we are having troubles finding rear wheels, :)
