Hello to everyone on the site.....and now I have a question

Post by NYRC10 »

So after getting back into rc after many years I pulled out my barely used B3 team and decided to drop in a castle creations brushless setup( 4600kv/esc combo). Running it in he house I've noticed that if I give it moderate throttle at once it feels and sounds as if the diff is slipping. It makes a barking sound and its fairly tight. So can a b3 handle a brushless setup this powerful and if not can anything be done to make it handle the power? Thank you in advance for any help and advice. :D

if it's been sitting many years, rebuilding the trans/diff should be job #1.

I agree. Rebuild should be your first task. Do it right, and that should clear it up.

i must have only ran the buggy for maybe 5 battery packs mostly on pavement and once on grass, and its been stored since. i opened up the trans and everything looks brand new(gears, bearings, casing, slipper). ill admit i didn't open up the diff itself because everything else was so clean. Is it even a possibility its bad? ill open it up to double check. My main concern though is if the B3's diff, trans and slipper can handle the power these modern day brushless setups can dish out. Thanks guys!!!

The b3 trans can handle brushless power just fine. The same trans is still used in custom works oval cars.

Yeah it works, that's my current set-up  Make sure your drive shaft roll pins are seated correctly in the rear wheels and/or you didn't shear-off a drive shaft roll pin
