here's the listing for the 68 hurst olds we built in 2010 on barrett jackson's website for the scottsdale auction in january.

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=1000&aid=466

as i said a few posts ago, we wouldn't get the recognition for the build. my last name isn't thornton.

he'll need to get over $200k to break even on that car.

he paid a shop in harrisburg, pa $92k to restore the car. they did such a bad job, we had to strip it completely back down and redo it. everything but the engine. that was pulled from the car and set aside until it was ready to go back in. other than that, every other nut and bolt was touched. hell, we had to put a whole new frame under it.

we had about $75k in redoing the car. so you're looking at $167k to get it where it is today. then whatever thornton's charged to detail it and ship the car to az, plus whatever the buying/selling fees will end up being. not to mention whatever it cost him to originally buy the car 10 years ago or so (don't know the price).

i honestly don't really pay attention to the going rates of classic cars. just like any auction, all it takes is 2 guys that really want something to run the price up. i would personally hope to see it atleast go to $100k. we'll find out on a friday in january. i really can't wait to see what it looks like on tv. :)

the car was just built a few years ago, but it has some issues that new owner (owned it the last couple years) wants address. he owns the black 63 impala and 64 biscayne we built.

here's an article on the car when it was featured in super chevy magazine shortly after it was done.

i was browsing around yenko.net the other day, and found a pic of the 68 hurst we did at the mcacn show in IL in 2011. i couldn't save the image, so i got in touch with the photographer and he emailed a copy to me. it looks good under all of those lights. hopefully it looks just as good going across the block a B-J this friday.

How'd the Olds sale go? What a shame when a garage screws it up.
The gasser look is going to be a nice project. Looking forward to seeing the progress pics.
