Tamiya Super Champ "restoration project"

Post by vwlvr1980 »

I picked this cool little car up in a trade for an old rc boat i had collecting dust. Its seen better days but my plan is to restore this back to stock and use it as a weekend runner. The rear shock oil res is leaking real bad but i'll tear into it to see whats up. I will be shopping for an oem body and decal set for this at some point this winter.

Nice score! Looks to be in great shape. I have 2 of these. The bodies are fragile and molded in blue, so you didn't have to paint them if you didn't want to.

If the body is not badly broken, I would take my time and strip the paint. An original body, even used, will go for hundreds of dollars.

All the rear shocks leaked on these. Although, they look real cool!

That should clean up nicely. Throw a little bit of easy off oven cleaner on that shell and see what you get.
